Turns in a 37" circle
The mid-size 3-wheel chassis needs a 37" circle to turn around. That is 8" tighter than the full-size GC340 and 19" tighter than the 4-wheel GC440, which is what you feel in a hallway or a shop aisle.
Comes apart into six pieces
The GC240 breaks down without tools for the trunk of a car. The heaviest single piece is 48 lbs.
Quilted high back seat
An 18" by 16" sliding adjustable seat with a quilted diamond stitch, three seat height positions an inch apart, and a self-locking swivel that turns 90 degrees either way.
Delta tiller with automatic lock
A wraparound delta tiller with easy reach angle adjustment and an LED battery gauge on the dash. It locks itself when you fold it down, so it does not swing during transport.
Two U-1 batteries, air travel safe
Golden lists the GC240's two U-1 batteries as air travel safe and supplies a portable 3.5 amp off-board charger. The charger port sits on the tiller behind a protective cover.
Flat free tires and anti-tippers at both ends
Nine inch front and 10.75" rear solid non-marking tires that cannot go flat, with 3" anti-tip wheels at the front and the rear.
The GC240 is the smallest of the three Companion scooters, and the reason to pick it is the 37" turning radius. That is 8" tighter than the GC340 and 19" tighter than the GC440, which is the difference between backing and filling in a hallway and simply turning around. It is also the easiest of the three to load into a car, because it comes apart into six pieces and the heaviest one is 48 lbs.
What you give up is real and worth saying plainly. The GC240 runs 15 miles on a charge and carries 350 lbs., where the GC340 carries 400 lbs. Golden's 2024 refresh gave the GC340 and the GC440 full front and rear suspension, a digital dash with a percentage battery readout, and a USB charging port on the tiller. The GC240 did not get any of the three. It rides on a plain LED battery gauge and a solid front fork.
If you spend most of your time indoors and you want a scooter you can lift into a car in pieces, the GC240 is the right one. If you ride outdoors on rough ground for long stretches, or you need the range, look at the GC340 instead.
