The Extreme X8 has four motors, one at each wheel, and an articulating front frame that keeps all four low pressure tires on the ground. It is built to order by Magic Mobility, part of Sunrise Medical, with the seat, power seating and controls you choose.
You choose the seat type and size, the power seat functions, the back, arms, legrests, drive controls, batteries and color, and every choice is checked against Sunrise's order form as you build.
What stands out
Four wheel drive
Four independent high torque motors, one at each wheel, for sand, snow, gravel, grass and mud.
Curb and step climbing
The four motors, the knobby tires and the articulating front frame take the X8 up and down curbs and small steps.
Smooth ride
The front frame articulates to keep all four drive wheels on the ground, and the low pressure tires soften small bumps.
Low pressure tires
The X8 runs at low tire pressure, which gives it grip and is gentler on trails than a tracked chair.
Power seating
Add 50 degree tilt, 150 degree recline, a 12" seat elevator and power elevating legrests, run from the joystick or a Ctrl+5 switch box with voice activation.
Outdoor accessories
A lighting kit with turn signals, a luggage rack, a Charge Mate, and Be Adaptive shooting and fishing mounts.
The Hieline Insight
The Extreme X8 suits someone up to 400 lbs. who wants to spend real time outdoors on sand, snow, trails or a farm, and who has the space for a 28" wide chair that weighs 320 lbs. or more. Start with the seat type: the REHAB seat pan takes a JAY back and cushion and goes from 13" to 23" wide, while the MPS captain seat is a padded seat and back in six sizes. Then choose the power seating, since tilt, recline and the seat elevator each lower the weight capacity and set the controls the chair needs; the build adds the right thru-drive control for you. If you want power elevating legrests, the lighting kit or the directional lock without tilt, pick the seat with power functionality. Add the batteries unless you are supplying your own, and the tie down kit if the chair will ride in a vehicle.

400 lbs. with no power seating. Sunrise's order form and brochure give 340 lbs. with power tilt or the seat elevator, and Sunrise's product page and owner's manual give 350 lbs.; we publish the lower figure. With power recline it is 300 lbs.
The REHAB seat is a flat pan that adjusts in width and depth, from 13" to 23" wide and 13" to 24" deep, with back canes for a JAY J3 back. The MPS is a captain style seat and back in six sizes from 16" x 18" to 22" x 20", with manual recline. You can also pair the MPS back with the REHAB seat pan.
It is the no power seat with the wiring for power functions. Sunrise requires it for power recline on its own, power elevating legrests, the lighting kit and the directional lock on a chair without power tilt.
Sunrise sets it by the number of power seat actuators: one actuator takes the single control, two or more take the multi control. The build picks the right one from your seat function, recline, seat elevator and legrests.
No. The X8 runs on two Group 24 batteries, and the pair is an option in the build. Leave it off only if you are supplying your own.
Up to 6 mph and up to 12 miles on a charge. Range depends on the setup and the terrain.
No. The motors sit low, and Sunrise says the chair must never be driven through puddles, streams, rivers or the sea.
No. Sunrise says the X8 is 28" wide in every build.
Yes, with the crash tested tie down kit. The X8 is crash tested to ISO 7176-19.
No. The X8 is built to order to your choices, so it cannot be returned. The Magic Mobility warranty covers defects.
