Four wheel drive with suspension at every wheel and powered steering
The XT4 has four 700 watt motors, front and rear suspension on independent pivoting arms, and servo powered steering, so the front wheels follow the joystick. LED lights and crash tested transit brackets come on every chair, and it is built to order by Magic Mobility, part of Sunrise Medical.
You choose the seat type and size, the power seat functions, the back, arms, legrests, drive controls, batteries and color, and every choice is checked against Sunrise's order form as you build.
What stands out
Four 700 watt motors
One high torque motor at each wheel for mud, sand, snow, and curbs.
Independent suspension
Each wheel sits on its own pivoting arm that follows the ground, keeping all four tires in contact for traction and a smoother ride.
Servo powered steering
The front wheels steer where you point the joystick, which makes reversing, three point turns and slippery ground easier.
Group 31 batteries
Large Group 31 batteries give up to 19 miles of range.
LED lights
Six LED lights front and rear plus an indicator on each side, standard on every chair.
Power seating
Add 50 degree tilt, 150 degree recline, a 12" seat elevator and power elevating legrests, run from the joystick or a Ctrl+5 switch box with voice activation.
The Hieline Insight
The XT4 suits someone up to 400 lbs. who wants to spend long days off-road, and who has room for a 27.5" wide chair that weighs 408 lbs. or more. It is the step up from the Extreme X8: bigger batteries, suspension at all four wheels, and steering that turns the front wheels, with up to 19 miles of range against the X8's 12. Start with the seat type: the REHAB seat pan takes a JAY back and cushion and goes from 13" to 23" wide, while the MPS captain seat is a padded seat and back in six sizes. Then choose the power seating, since tilt, recline and the seat elevator each lower the weight capacity and set the controls the chair needs; the build adds the right thru-drive control for you. Add the batteries unless you are supplying your own.

Common questions
400 lbs. with no power seat functions, 350 lbs. with power tilt or the seat elevator, and 300 lbs. with power recline.
The XT4 has 700 watt motors, suspension at all four wheels, servo powered steering, Group 31 batteries for up to 19 miles, and LED lights and transit brackets as standard. It is 27.5" wide against the X8's 28", and heavier.
Sunrise's order form gives 408 lbs. with no power options and 485 lbs. with the seat elevator, tilt and recline. Sunrise's product page says it starts at 320 lbs. with batteries. We publish the order form's figures because they are specific to the XT4.
Sunrise's product page gives 4" and the order form gives 5". Plan on 4".
The REHAB seat is a flat pan that adjusts in width and depth, from 13" to 23" wide and 13" to 24" deep, with back canes for a JAY J3 back. The MPS is a captain style seat and back in six sizes from 16" x 18" to 22" x 20", with manual recline. You can also pair the MPS back with the REHAB seat pan.
Sunrise sets it by the number of power seat actuators: one actuator takes the single control, two or more take the multi control. The build picks the right one from your seat function, recline, seat elevator and legrests.
No. The XT4 runs on two Group 31 batteries, and the pair is an option in the build. Leave it off only if you are supplying your own.
Up to 6.2 mph, or 3.1 mph with the seat fully raised, and up to 19 miles on a charge. Range depends on the setup, tire pressure and terrain.
No. The motors sit low, and Sunrise says the chair must never be driven through puddles, streams, rivers or the sea.
Yes. The XT4 is crash tested to ISO 7176-19 and the transit brackets come standard.
No. The XT4 is built to order to your choices, so it cannot be returned. The Magic Mobility warranty covers defects.
No. You can order a XT4 from Hieline without a prescription.
No. Hieline does not bill or accept insurance, so the XT4 is a direct purchase. Any reimbursement is strictly between you and your insurer.
