Motion Composites Helio A6 Folding Wheelchair
An aluminum folding wheelchair from 13 lbs., rated to 265 lbs. or 350 lbs. with the HD kit. You choose every part and we check it.
An aluminum folding chair built to your measurements
The Helio A6 is Motion Composites' aluminum folding wheelchair, built to order from 14" to 22" wide. Its transport weight starts at 13 lbs., and it carries 265 lbs., or 350 lbs. with the heavy duty kit.
Choose the frame, seat size and heights, wheels, casters, footrest, back, armrests, guards and color, each checked against the Helio A6 order form as you build.
What stands out
A folding frame built to the user
Seat width, seat depth, both seat heights, frame length, center of gravity, back height and footrest length are each set to the user's measurements.
Rigid unibody frame
A one piece 6061 aluminum frame with a symmetrical hydroformed cross brace. Motion Composites says a unibody frame needs less maintenance than a two part frame.
Low seat heights
The hybrid frame design reaches a 12" front seat to floor height, low enough to push with the feet.
Heavy duty kit
The HD kit raises the weight capacity to 350 lbs. and opens the 21" and 22" seat widths.
Wheels and handrims
Newton One wheels come standard, with Mag, Newton Gravity and Spinergy Spox, LX and CLX wheels, and handrims from anodized aluminum to Natural Fit and Surge.
Nineteen frame colors
Every color comes at no charge, and the Newton Air Grip handrims come in the same colors.
The Hieline Insight
The Helio A6 suits a full time manual wheelchair user who needs a chair that folds for the car and still fits like a custom build, up to 265 lbs., or 350 lbs. with the heavy duty kit. Take hip width, seat depth, lower leg length and back height before you start, since every size is fixed when Motion Composites builds the chair. Choose your rear wheel size and casters first, because they set the seat heights the page offers. If you push with your feet, look at the low front seat heights on the smaller casters. Motion Composites builds the chair to order, so it cannot be returned once it is made.

Common questions
Measure seated on a firm surface: hip width for the seat width, the back of the hip to the back of the knee for the seat depth, the back of the knee to the floor in shoes for the seat to footplate length, and the seat to the shoulder blade for the back height. The order form on the Resources tab shows each setting.
265 lbs. With the heavy duty kit it carries 350 lbs., and Motion Composites requires the kit for a user from 300 to 350 lbs.
Motion Composites gives a transport weight of 13 lbs. at 16" x 16" without the rear wheels, wheel locks, armrests, cushion, anti-tippers and footrest, and from 22.9 lbs. with wheel locks and wheels. The brochure's headline says 13.1 lbs.
The front seat height depends on the caster size, the fork and the stem bolt, and the rear seat height on the rear wheel size. The page offers only the heights on Motion Composites' charts for the parts you chose. A seat slope over 1 1/2" and the caster pin locks each need a longer stem bolt.
0 or 3 degrees, the two on the order form. The brochure also lists 6 degrees, which the order form does not offer.
Yes. The 21" to 24" back canes with integrated push handles cost more. The brochure gives a 12" to 24" back height; the order form starts at 9".
They come in the same 19 colors. Motion Composites notes the finish on the handrims may differ slightly from the frame, and colors on screen are for reference only.
No. This page offers every size and color on the order form. Custom paint and Motion Composites' EVO Custom requests need a written spec, so they are not offered here.
Motion Composites warrants the aluminum frame and cross brace for life to the first user, with an expected frame life of five years. Its components are covered for one year. Tires, tubes, seat slings, standard back upholstery, armrests and push handle grips are covered for 30 days.
No. The Helio A6 is built to order to one user's sizes, so it cannot be returned. Motion Composites' warranty covers defects.
No. You can order a Helio A6 from Hieline without a prescription.
No. Hieline does not bill or accept insurance, so the Helio A6 is a direct purchase. Any reimbursement is strictly between you and your insurer.
Yes. Your progress saves automatically in your browser as you go, so you can step away and pick up where you left off on the same device.
Every combination is checked against Motion Composites' own compatibility rules as you build. An option that does not fit your other choices is greyed out with the reason printed on it, and the build cannot be added to the cart while a conflict is open.
