Motion Composites Helio A7 and C2 Folding Wheelchair
A folding wheelchair in 7000 series aluminum from 13.6 lbs., or carbon fiber from 9.5 lbs. as the C2. Rated to 265 lbs., or 350 lbs. with the HD package.
A folding chair in aluminum or carbon fiber, built to your measurements
The Helio is Motion Composites' performance folding wheelchair. The A7 frame is 7005 T6 aluminum with a 13.6 lb. transport weight. The C2 upgrade makes the frame, cross brace and back canes T700 carbon fiber and brings the transport weight to 9.5 lbs.
Choose the A7 or C2 frame, seat size and heights, wheels, casters, footrest, back, armrests, guards and color, each checked against the Helio order form as you build.
What stands out
Aluminum or carbon fiber
The A7 frame is 7005 T6 aluminum. The C2 upgrade makes the side frames, cross brace and back canes T700 carbon fiber and takes about 4 lbs. off the transport weight.
Rigid unibody frame
A one piece frame with a fully symmetrical cross brace. Motion Composites says a unibody frame needs less maintenance than a two part frame.
Low seat heights
The hybrid frame design reaches a 13" front seat to floor height, low enough to push with the feet.
Forged vertical axle plate
Sets the rear wheel position in 1/4" steps from 1" to 3 3/4" of center of gravity, or 4" on the C2.
Newton Ultralight package
Newton Gravity wheels with carbon fiber adjustable angle footplates, priced below the two parts bought apart.
Twenty frame finishes
Black on the A7, High Gloss Carbon Fiber on the C2, and 18 colors on either at no charge. Newton Air Grip handrims come in the same colors.
The Hieline Insight
The Helio suits a full time manual wheelchair user who wants a folding chair that rides like a rigid one, up to 265 lbs., or 350 lbs. with the heavy duty package. Choose the A7 if aluminum at 13.6 lbs. fits your budget, or the C2 if lifting the chair into a car every day makes the 9.5 lb. carbon fiber frame worth the upgrade. Take hip width, seat depth, lower leg length and back height before you start, since every size is fixed when Motion Composites builds the chair. Choose your rear wheel size and casters first, because they set the seat heights the page offers. Motion Composites builds the chair to order, so it cannot be returned once it is made.
Is it right for you?
A good fit if you

- a seat width from 14" to 22"
Look elsewhere if you

Common questions
The frame material. The A7 has 7005 T6 aluminum side frames, cross brace and back canes, with a 13.6 lb. transport weight. The C2 makes the same parts T700 carbon fiber, with a 9.5 lb. transport weight. Sizes and options are the same, except that the 4" center of gravity comes only on the C2 and the back canes with integrated push handles only on the A7.
Measure seated on a firm surface: hip width for the seat width, the back of the hip to the back of the knee for the seat depth, the back of the knee to the floor in shoes for the seat to footplate length, and the seat to the shoulder blade for the back height. The order form on the Resources tab shows each setting.
265 lbs. With the heavy duty package it carries 350 lbs., and the 21" and 22" seat widths come only with it. The WC-19 transit tie-downs are not sold with the heavy duty package on the C2.
Motion Composites gives a transport weight of 13.6 lbs. for the A7 and 9.5 lbs. for the C2 at 16" x 16", without the rear wheels, wheel locks, armrests, cushion, anti-tippers and footrest. With wheels and wheel locks the A7 starts at 23.3 lbs. and the C2 at 19.4 lbs.
The front seat height depends on the caster size, the fork and the stem bolt, and the rear seat height on the rear wheel size. The page offers only the heights on Motion Composites' charts for the parts you chose. The caster pin locks need a longer stem bolt.
13", with 3" casters on the shortest fork, per the order form and the specification tables. The C2 brochure's text mentions 12", which the order form does not offer.
The June 2026 order form says the carbon versions of the angle and height adjustable back canes are not available until fall 2026. You can order them here, and we confirm the build date with Motion Composites when we place the order.
They come in the 18 colors plus black. Motion Composites notes the finish on the handrims may differ slightly from the frame, and colors on screen are for reference only. The color photographs on this page show the A7.
No. This page offers every size and color on the order form. Custom paint and Motion Composites' EVO Custom requests need a written spec, so they are not offered here.
Motion Composites warrants the aluminum frame and cross brace for life to the first user, with an expected frame life of five years, and the carbon fiber frame, cross brace, back canes, side guards and footplates for life to the first user. Components are covered for one year. Tires, tubes, seat slings, standard back upholstery, armrests and push handle grips are covered for 30 days.

Yes. Your progress saves automatically in your browser as you go, so you can step away and pick up where you left off on the same device.
Every combination is checked against Motion Composites' own compatibility rules as you build. An option that does not fit your other choices is greyed out with the reason printed on it, and the build cannot be added to the cart while a conflict is open.
