Tilt that turns around the rider
The Quickie IRIS is Sunrise Medical's adult tilt in space wheelchair. Its seat rotates around the rider's center of gravity through 40 or 55 degrees, on one of the shortest wheelbases in its class.
You choose the frame, base, tilt range, sizes, wheels, casters, seat height, footrests, back, arms and color, and every choice is checked against Sunrise's rules, its seat height chart and its lower leg chart as you build.
What stands out
Rotation around the rider
The seat frame rolls on a curved rocker arm so the rider's center of gravity stays over the center of rotation. The tilt takes little effort and the rider does not slide forward or back.
40 or 55 degrees of tilt
Choose a 40 or a 55 degree range, and Sunrise sets it to start at -5, 0 or +5 degrees, for up to 60 degrees of tilt.
Power tilt
An optional battery powered tilt with an attendant control and a toggle switch on the armrest, so the rider can shift position alone.
300 or 400 lbs.
The standard frame carries 300 lbs. The Heavy Duty package carries 400 lbs.
Seat heights from Sunrise's charts
Every rear wheel, tire, caster and front seat height is checked against Sunrise's seat height chart, and every hanger and extension against its lower leg chart.
The widest choice of legrests
Front mount and extension mount swing in and out hangers, lift-off, elevating and articulating hangers, Z-Finity, a contracture footrest and JAY foot boxes.
Four backs
Fixed stroller handle posts, height adjustable back canes, a reclining back or the mono backrest system with a JAY J3 back, laterals and a headrest.
The Hieline Insight
The Quickie IRIS suits an adult who needs to be tilted through the day for comfort, pressure relief or breathing, with a caregiver who wants the tilt to take little effort. The first choices are the frame and the base. The IRIS frames add Sunrise's True Fit Growth program and the IRIS SE frames cost less without it, and a transit included frame is the one to take if the user rides in a vehicle seated in the chair. Take the Heavy Duty package above 300 lbs., and power tilt if the user should be able to shift position without help. Pick the rear wheels, tire and casters before the seat height, since Sunrise's chart decides which heights each pairing reaches, then pick the hangers against the user's lower leg length. Measure the user seated on a firm surface. Hip width is the widest point across the hips. Seat depth is from the back of the hips to the back of the knee. Lower leg length is from the back of the knee to the bottom of the heel. Sunrise's measuring guide is on the Resources tab.
They are the same chair. The IRIS frames include Sunrise's True Fit Growth program and the IRIS SE frames do not. Every option is the same on both.
The 55 degree range tilts further. The reclining back needs the 40 degree range, and the Heavy Duty package takes the 0 to 40 or 0 to 55 degree setting.
Sunrise's seat height chart prints the front seat heights each rear wheel, tire and caster can reach. The build only opens the heights on the chart.
They do not work with a choice you have already made. The reason is printed on the option, and every rule comes from Sunrise's order forms.
Yes. Choose a transit included frame, or add the WC-19 transit system to a transit optional frame.
No. The IRIS is built to order to one user's measurements, so it cannot be returned. The Sunrise warranty covers defects.
No. You can order a Quickie IRIS from Hieline without a prescription.
