A carbon fiber rigid chair built to your measurements
The TiLite CR1 is Permobil's carbon fiber rigid wheelchair, built to order from 13" to 18" wide with a 9 lbs. transport weight. It has a dual-angled front end, a backrest that folds down for transport, and a 231 lbs. weight limit.

What stands out
Carbon fiber frame
An aerodynamic carbon fiber tube with a foam-filled core, reinforced with PBO fiber and titanium. Permobil puts the transport weight at 9 lbs.
Dual-angled front end
An extra bend in the downtube lets the user get up to 2" closer to a surface for a transfer and into tighter spaces.
Fold-down backrest
Custom-profiled carbon side guards are part of the frame and hold the backrest in place, so the back folds down for transport without hinges.
Three frame shapes
The rear seat height is set as a drop below the front, and each drop is its own frame shape at a 7, 10 or 13 degree seat slope.
Fine tuning after delivery
The center of gravity and the footrest height each adjust 1" either way once the chair arrives, so the balance can be set on the chair.

The Hieline Insight
At a 9 lbs. transport weight the TiLite CR1 is the lightest adult chair in the TiLite range, and at $6,656.00 it is the most expensive, so it makes sense for a user who lifts the chair into a car often and fits inside its limits. Check those limits first, because they are firm: a 231 lbs. weight limit, a seat 13" to 18" wide, and a front seat height of 17.5" or more. Carbon fiber is rigid with minimal adjustability, so the fit you order is the fit you keep. Set the seat width as tight as positioning allows, then the seat depth. Pick the front seat height next and read the three rear seat drops Permobil offers for your depth. Each drop is its own frame shape, and the one closest to the rear seat height you want decides the frame. A 17.5" or 17.75" front seat is only made on 13" to 16" depths, on Frame 1, with 3" front wheels and 24" rear wheels. Keep the seat to footrest length 1" to 3" under the front seat height. If you are moving from another chair, Permobil recommends a less aggressive center of gravity, because the CR1's front end is lighter. If a SmartDrive is in your plans, order the SmartDrive ready camber tube now; it costs nothing and the SmartDrive needs it.

Order form and measuring
Common questions
Measure seated on a firm surface. The TiFit diagrams on page 5 of the order form, and Permobil's CR1 TiFit tips on the Resources tab, show where each letter on the build is taken: seat width A, seat depth B, front seat height C, rear seat height D, seat to footrest E, back height F, back angle G and center of gravity H.
Subtract the rear seat height you want from the front seat height. That is the seat slope. Permobil's chart gives three drops for each seat depth, and each one is a frame shape: Frame 1 at 7 degrees, Frame 2 at 10 degrees and Frame 3 at 13 degrees. Pick the drop closest to yours. You can move the front seat height up or down 0.25" to land the rear seat height closer.
Permobil makes those two heights on 13" to 16" seat depths only, on Frame 1, and they need the 3" front wheels and 24" rear wheels. On 17" to 19" seat depths the front seat starts at 18".
231 lbs. The order form, the brochure and the instructions for use all give the same figure, and there is no heavy duty version of the CR1.
No. Permobil's instructions for use say the TiLite CR1 has not been crash tested. The user transfers into the vehicle seat and uses the vehicle's own restraint system, and the chair is stowed.
Permobil's CR1 brochure and product page give a front seat height of 17.5" to 21" and a center of gravity of 2" to 5". The February 2026 order form offers 17.5" to 20.75" and 2.25" to 5". This page follows the order form, because the chair is built from it.
Permobil sizes the Bodypoint calf strap by footrest width: medium for 13" to 16" and large for 17" to 18". The CR1 footrest is 4.2" narrower than the seat, so only an 18" seat reaches the medium range, and no CR1 reaches the large one. The medium strap is offered on 18" seats.
Yes. The CR1 order form prints a part number for the frame and for nearly every option, and the order line carries them. Choices the form asks you to write in, such as the heights, the drops and the back angle, carry Permobil's own wording.
Permobil puts the TiLite CR1 transport weight at 9 lbs. A transport weight is the frame with the rear wheels, footrest, back and seating taken off, so a built chair weighs more.
Permobil notes that on-screen colors are for reference only. The charcoal grey swatch is sampled from Permobil's own photographs of a charcoal grey chair. Permobil's brochure calls the second trim ring finish brushed aluminum and the order form calls it polished aluminum.
No. The CR1 is built to order to one user's measurements, so it cannot be returned. Permobil's warranty covers defects.
No. You can order a TiLite CR1 from Hieline without a prescription.
