An aluminum folding chair built to your measurements
The TiLite X is Permobil's aluminum folding wheelchair, fully adjustable and built to order from 14" to 22" wide. It is rated to 250 lbs., 275 lbs. at no charge, or 350 lbs. on the heavy duty frame, and there is a frame with WC-19 transit tie-downs built in.
Choose the frame, seat size and heights, hangers, footrest, back, wheels, front wheels, side guards, seating and finish, each checked against Permobil's order form as you build.
What stands out
A folding frame that still fits
The X folds, and it is still built to the user: seat width, seat depth, both seat heights, centre of gravity, hanger angle, back height and seat to footrest are all set when the chair is made.
Single-piece side frame
Permobil gives the X a single-piece side frame and a redesigned cross-brace, and puts its transport weight at 12.1 lbs.
Gear Lock caster system
The caster angle is squared with a single tool in 2 degree increments, the way Permobil does it on its rigid chairs, rather than by eye.
T-style armrests
The flip back and removable T-style armrests have an ergonomic release lever, height adjustment on the go and a welded receiver that does not rotate over time. Both need a 15" or deeper seat.
Transit, two ways
Order the frame with the WC-19 transit tie-downs built in, or add the separate transit tie-down brackets to a plain frame. The transport bracket option is for securing the empty chair only.

The Hieline Insight
The TiLite X is the chair to pick when you need a folding frame and a TiFit fit, and at $1,908.00 it is the least expensive folding chair in the TiLite range. Decide the frame first, because it is the choice you cannot change later: the 250 lbs. and 275 lbs. frames cost the same, the frame with WC-19 transit tie-downs is the one you can ride in seated in a vehicle, and the heavy duty frame takes the chair to 350 lbs. but narrows it to 18" to 22" wide by 16" to 20" deep, holds camber at 0 degrees, and rules out the folding back, fold-down and bolt-on push handles, the Glide fork, one arm drive, the Mag wheels and every armrest but the T-style. Set the seat width and depth next, since Permobil's size chart does not build every combination: a 14" wide chair stops at an 18" depth and a 21" or 22" wide chair starts at an 18" depth. Then work front to back: the front wheel size sets the front seat height range and the rear wheel size sets the rear seat height range, and the hanger angle, footrest and fork together decide which front wheel sizes Permobil will fit at all. Keep the seat to footrest length at least 2" under the front seat height. If you plan to add a SmartDrive, keep the rear seat height at 13.5" or more. Take the measurements with Permobil's measurement guide on page 9 of the order form before you build.

Measure seated on a firm surface. Permobil's measurement guide on page 9 of the order form, on the Resources tab, shows where each letter on the build is taken: seat width A, seat depth B, front seat height C, rear seat height D, centre of gravity E, seat to footrest F and back height G.
Permobil's February 2026 order form for the X prints no part numbers on any row. It is ordered by description, so the order line carries Permobil's own wording for every choice you make and nothing is invented.
250 lbs. on the standard frame, or 275 lbs. at no charge if you choose it. The heavy duty frame carries 350 lbs. and comes in 18" to 22" seat widths and 16" to 20" seat depths. Permobil's website gives 300 lbs. as the standard figure; the February 2026 order form makes 250 lbs. the standard and 275 lbs. a no charge choice, and this page follows the form because the form is what the chair is built from.
Yes. Order the aluminum folding frame with WC-19 transit tie-downs, which is a frame choice, or add the separate transit tie-down brackets to a plain frame. Either way it is four tie-down brackets, and Permobil recommends the Q'Straint WC-19 anchored pelvic belt with it. The transport bracket option is different: it is for securing the chair unoccupied. Neither bracket set is sold on the heavy duty frame, and neither goes with the fixed height non-removable armrests or the height adjustable tubular armrests.
Permobil builds a set list of seat sizes. A 14" wide chair runs 14" to 18" deep, a 15" wide chair runs 14" to 19", a 16" to 19" wide chair runs 14" to 20", a 20" wide chair runs 16" to 20", and a 21" or 22" wide chair runs 18" to 20". The chart is on page 2 of the order form.
Permobil's order form ties choices together with six charts. Each front wheel size covers its own range of front seat heights and each rear wheel size its own range of rear seat heights. Two separate compatibility charts, one for the standard fork and one for the Glide suspension fork, set which front wheel sizes work with your hanger angle and footrest: the Glide fork takes no 85 degree hangers at all, and at 80 degrees it takes the depth adjustable footrest only. The back height range depends on both the back type and the push handles, and the heavy duty frame includes the billet aluminum front wheels at no charge.
Permobil's note reads: one arm drive requires a 24" rear wheel and 0 degrees of camber, is not available with the heavy duty frame, will increase wheel spacing by 2", and comes with 24" spoke rear wheels, treaded tires with airless inserts and aluminum silver anodized handrims. Those three are included at no charge on this build, which is why they cannot be changed once you pick it.
Permobil's note on the standard rear wheel reads: order 24" wheels with a treaded pneumatic tire or a treaded tire with airless inserts, and aluminum silver or aluminum black handrims with long tabs, and the chair ships with TiLite standard rear wheels. Any other combination ships with TiLite Shadow rear wheels.
Permobil puts the TiLite X transport weight at 12.1 lbs. A transport weight is the chair with the rear wheels, footrests, armrests and seating taken off, so a built chair weighs more.
Permobil notes that on-screen colors are for reference only. The powder coat swatches use the colors Permobil publishes on its own site.
Permobil publishes the TiLite X owner's manual, service manual and parts manual through its own ShareFile document portal rather than as direct links, so they are not on the Resources tab. Ask us and we will send them with the chair.
