The Zippie GS is Sunrise Medical's growing pediatric wheelchair, built to order from Sunrise's own order form.
You choose a folding or rigid frame, the sizes, the wheels, the footrest, the back and the color, and every choice is checked against Sunrise's rules as you build.
What stands out
Grows with the child
Both frames and the growing seat pan allow up to 2" of width growth and up to 4" of depth growth, and the armrests and legrests adjust to keep the fit.
Folding or rigid
The folding frame stores in a car or a small space. The rigid frame has fewer moving parts, weighs less and takes the least effort to push.
Standard or reverse wheels
Reverse configuration puts the drive wheels at the front, where a child with a short reach can see and reach them. The wheels move to the rear as the child grows.
Dual seat rails
The seat mounts on its own rail, apart from the armrests, wheel locks and other options, so the parts do not get in each other's way.
GS or GS SE
The GS includes Sunrise's True Fit growth and can come with transit included. The GS SE leaves True Fit out and costs less.
Built for transit
The WC-19 transit system is included on the transit included frames and can be added to the others, with the seat and back Sunrise's tie-down needs.

The Zippie GS suits a young child who is starting to push themselves and a family that wants one chair to last through a few years of growth. The folding or rigid choice is the first decision: fold if the chair rides in the car every day, and go rigid if the child pushes most of the day and a lighter push matters more. Reverse configuration is worth a look for a small child with a short reach, because the wheels move to the rear later as the child grows. The GS SE costs less by leaving out True Fit growth, so compare the two before you choose. Take the child's measurements with Sunrise's measuring guide on the Resources tab before you build.

Common questions
Measure the child seated on a firm surface. Hip width is the widest point across the hips. Seat depth is from the back of the hips to the back of the knee. Lower leg length is from the back of the knee to the bottom of the heel. Sunrise's measuring guide is on the Resources tab.
Both grow in width and depth. The GS includes Sunrise's True Fit growth and is offered with transit included. The GS SE leaves True Fit out, is transit optional, and costs less.
Up to 2" in width on the crossbrace and up to 4" in depth on the frame. Each width and depth option names its adjustment range.
The GS has no seat height step. Sunrise sets the front seat height from the caster, the fork and the rear wheel, using the setup chart in the order form on the Resources tab.
They do not work with a choice you have already made. The reason is printed on the option, and every rule comes from Sunrise's order form.
Yes, with the WC-19 transit system. It comes with a transit included frame and can be added to a transit optional frame. Sunrise's tie-down needs a solid or growing seat and a solid or JAY back.
No. The GS is built to order to one child's measurements, so it cannot be returned. The Sunrise warranty covers defects.
No. You can order a Zippie GS from Hieline without a prescription.
No. Hieline does not bill or accept insurance, so the Zippie GS is a direct purchase. Any reimbursement is strictly between you and your insurer.
