The Zippie IRIS is Sunrise Medical's pediatric tilt in space wheelchair, rigid or folding, built to order from Sunrise's own order forms.
You choose the frame, tilt range, sizes, wheels, seat height, footrests, back, arms and color, and every choice is checked against Sunrise's rules and charts as you build.
What stands out
Tilt that rotates around the child
Sunrise's Intelligent Rotation in Space seat turns around the child's center of gravity, so the tilt is smooth for the child and light for the caregiver. Choose a 40 degree or 55 degree range.
Rigid or folding
The XLOCK folding crossbrace locks solid when open and folds the chair for the car. The rigid frame takes the width adjusting struts, the mono back and the reclining back.
Grows with the child
The folding frame has up to 4" of depth growth and 2" of width growth built in. The IRIS frames add Sunrise's True Fit Growth program, one free growth kit for the original owner within 5 years.
Seat heights from Sunrise's charts
Every rear wheel, tire, caster and front seat height is checked against Sunrise's seat height chart, and the hangers and footrests against its lower leg and Z-Finity charts.
Seating that fits a JAY back
The mono backrest system mounts a JAY J3 back with a headrest and laterals. Fixed, height adjustable and reclining backs are offered too.
Made for caregivers
A foot tilt release with no exposed cables, push-button hub locks on the back canes and angle adjustable push handles for pushing from a tilted position.
The Hieline Insight
The Zippie IRIS suits a child who needs to change position through the day, because the seat tilts back while the hips and knees keep their angles, and the caregiver does the tilting from behind the chair. The first choices are the frame and the tilt range. Take a folding frame if the chair travels in a car trunk, and a rigid frame if you want the mono back or the reclining back, which also needs the 40 degree range. The IRIS frames carry Sunrise's True Fit Growth kit and the IRIS SE frames cost less without it. Pick the rear wheels, tire and casters before the seat height, since Sunrise's chart decides which heights each pairing can reach, and give the seat to footrest distance if you know it so only the hangers that reach it stay open. Take the child's measurements with Sunrise's measuring guide on the Resources tab before you build.

Common questions
Measure the child seated on a firm surface. Hip width is the widest point across the hips. Seat depth is from the back of the hips to the back of the knee. Lower leg length is from the back of the knee to the bottom of the heel. Sunrise's measuring guide is on the Resources tab.
They are the same chair. The IRIS frames include Sunrise's True Fit Growth program, one free growth kit within 5 years for the original owner, and the IRIS SE frames do not. The IRIS SE comes with transit as an option only. Every other option is the same on both.
The 55 degree range tilts further back. The 40 degree range is the one the reclining backrest needs. Each range can start at -5, 0 or +5 degrees.
Sunrise's front seat height chart prints the heights each rear wheel, tire and caster can reach, and a few low heights are for the rigid frame only. The build only opens the heights on the chart.
It is optional. When you give it, only the hangers, extensions and Z-Finity parts that Sunrise's lower leg and Z-Finity charts say will reach it stay open. Each hanger also needs a minimum front seat height, which the build checks.
They do not work with a choice you have already made. The reason is printed on the option, and every rule comes from Sunrise's order forms.
Yes. Choose a transit included frame, or add the WC-19 transit option to a transit optional frame.
No. The IRIS is built to order to one child's measurements, so it cannot be returned. The Sunrise warranty covers defects.
No. You can order a Zippie IRIS from Hieline without a prescription.
No. Hieline does not bill or accept insurance, so the Zippie IRIS is a direct purchase. Any reimbursement is strictly between you and your insurer.
