Click to zoomCircle Specialty Klip Gait Trainer
A lightweight posterior gait trainer in four sizes, carrying 75 to 190 lbs. Its rear wheels stop it rolling backward, its height adjusts with push pins, and you choose 5" wheels for indoors or 8" wheels for outdoors.
A lightweight posterior gait trainer that walks behind your child, with rear wheels that stop it rolling back and 5" or 8" front wheels.
What stands out
The Klip is a light walker that stands behind your child rather than in front, which keeps the way ahead open and pulls the shoulders back into an upright posture. That makes it a common step for children with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions who can bear their own weight but need something to hold and to steady them. Choose the size by weight and by handle height measured from the crease of the wrist to the floor, and leave room to grow, because the legs adjust on push pins. The 5" front wheels suit school corridors and the home and have a swivel lock; the 8" wheels are the choice for sidewalks and the park, and they lift the handles 2" to 4". The rear wheels hold the walker from rolling back, which matters for a child who leans back, and the override lets them roll freely once your child is steadier. If your child needs more holding, add the forearm platforms, the sling seat or the pelvic stabilizer; if the whole trunk needs support, a gait trainer like the Pivot is the better fit. If your child tires quickly, look at the Klip with seat.
Straight talk
Is it right for you?
A good fit if you
- have a child who walks better with support from behind and an open front
- want rear wheels that will not roll back, with an override for later
- want 8" wheels for sidewalks, parks and grass
- need a walker that folds flat for the car
- want to add forearm platforms, a sling seat or a pelvic stabilizer as needed
Look elsewhere if you
- need a seat for resting, which the Klip with seat has
- need anterior use for a child in the extra small size
- have a user over 190 lbs.
- need full trunk support while walking, which the Pivot gait trainer gives
- want a swivel lock on the 8" wheels, which the 8" wheels do not have
