A folding adaptive stroller in four seat widths, 12" to 18", carrying 75 to 250 lbs. by size. It has a five-point harness, an adjustable back and seat depth and swing-away footrests, and it comes with an under-seat basket.
A folding adaptive stroller with a five-point harness, an adjustable back and 4" of seat depth adjustment in each of its four sizes.
What stands out
The Strive is a stroller for a rider who needs more holding than a standard stroller gives and who is still growing. Start with the size, because it decides three things at once. The seat is 12", 14", 16" or 18" wide, the weight capacity is 75, 100, 170 or 250 lbs. in the same order, and the color is red on the two smaller sizes and blue on the two larger. Each size gives you 4" of seat depth to work with, so a rider at the short end of a size has room to grow before the next size is needed, and the seat depth extension kit adds 3" beyond that. The back angle sets between 80° and 95° and its tension straps let you firm up or soften the support behind the lower and upper back. What the Strive does not do is tilt. The seat sits at a fixed 20°, so a rider who needs to be tipped back for pressure relief or head control needs a tilt-in-space chair. At 33 to 36 lbs. it is a stroller one adult can fold and lift into a car, and the basket under the seat comes with it. If the rider will stay seated in it on a school bus or in a van, add the transit tie-downs and check the transit rating for your size, which is 75 lbs., 100 lbs. or 165 lbs. and is lower than the everyday rating on the two larger sizes.
Straight talk
Is it right for you?
A good fit if you
- need a stroller with a harness and an adjustable back for a rider who has outgrown a standard stroller
- want room for growth, with 4" of seat depth adjustment in each size
- lift the stroller into a car yourself and want one that folds flat and weighs 33 to 36 lbs.
- have a rider of up to 250 lbs., which the 18" size carries
- plan to use a bus or a van and will add the transit tie-downs
Look elsewhere if you
- need a seat that tilts, since this seat angle is fixed at 20°
- need a back that reclines past 95°
- need a seat narrower than 12" or wider than 18"
- have a rider over 165 lbs. who will stay seated in the stroller in a vehicle, since the transit rating stops at 165 lbs.
- want the rider to move the chair without help, which calls for a wheelchair with hand rims
