The Hieline Take
The Ascent is Comfort's skin protection cushion in foam. The work is done by the visco insert under the sit bones, which contours to you, while the pelvic and thigh supports and the shaped adductors hold the hips and legs in line. It is 4" thick, sits on an EVA base layer, and has nothing to inflate or check. The even sizes cost less than the odd ones. Check the weight limit for your width before you order, because it runs from 250 lbs. at 16" to 400 lbs. at 22" and wider.

A cushion is a support surface that sits against the body, so once it ships it cannot be returned. Measure the seat of your wheelchair before you order and use the size steps above. The warranty is unaffected, so a defect is still covered.

Call us first at 1-855-HIELINE. We file the claim with Comfort Company for you and get the covered part sorted out rather than handing you a phone number.
Permobil classes the Ascent as a skin protection cushion, billed under HCPCS E2603 or E2604. Your seating clinician can tell you whether it is the right cushion for you.
Why do odd sizes cost more?
Comfort prices the Ascent higher in any size with an odd width or depth, such as 17" W X 18" D. The even sizes, 16", 18" and 20" wide and 16", 18" and 20" deep, are the lower price.
Why do 22" and wider cost more?
Comfort lists cushions 22" and wider at a higher price. They are billed under HCPCS E2604 instead of E2603.
How do I choose the size?
Match the width and depth of your wheelchair seat. The Depth step only offers the depths Comfort makes at the width you picked.
Is there a Stretch-Air cover?
Permobil's page lists Comfort-Tek or Stretch-Air, but Permobil has removed the Stretch-Air Ascent from its current price list and its order form offers Comfort-Tek only. We sell the Ascent in Comfort-Tek.
What is the weight limit?
It depends on the width: 250 lbs. at 16", 300 lbs. at 18", 350 lbs. at 20" and 400 lbs. at 22" and wider. Permobil does not print a figure for 17", 19" or 21".
How long is the warranty?
Permobil's Comfort Company warranty policy covers the cushion for 5 years and the cover for 6 months against manufacturing defects. Permobil's product page and catalog give the same terms.
Can I return it?
No. A cushion is a support surface, so it cannot be returned once it ships. The warranty still applies to any defect.
Is Hieline an authorized Permobil supplier?
Yes. Hieline is a Permobil Authorized Supplier, and Permobil makes Comfort Company cushions.
