The Hieline Take
The Embrace is Comfort's lighter positioning cushion. It has the same deep leg contours as the M2 and tapered adductors that widen toward the back to steady the hips, but it builds its comfort from a layer of memory foam on a molded base instead of a gel pack. At about 2.1 lbs. at 16" x 16" it weighs half as much as the M2, which matters to anyone lifting the cushion in and out of a chair every day. Choose the style you already use, match your seat size, and add GlideWear if shear on the skin is a concern. If the rider sits for long hours and needs more pressure relief under the pelvis, the M2 is the step up.

The owner's manual for this product has its own warranty section, and that section is the complete statement of what Comfort Company covers, for how long, and what falls outside the coverage. Read it before you file a claim. If anything on this page differs from the manual, go by the manual.
A cushion is a support surface that sits against the body, so once it ships it cannot be returned. Measure the seat of your wheelchair before you order and use the size steps above. The warranty is unaffected, so a defect is still covered.

Yes. Permobil now sells the Acta-Embrace cushion as the Embrace. The part numbers are the same, and the cover in Permobil's photographs still carries the Acta-Embrace name.
How is it different from the M2?
The M2 adds a four-compartment gel pack and a tailbone cutout and weighs about 4.2 lbs. at 16" x 16". The Embrace uses memory foam on a molded base and weighs about 2.1 lbs. at the same size. Both have deep leg contours and come in the same sizes and styles.
Zero-Elevation or Anti-Thrust?
Both are the Embrace on a different foam base. Permobil's Embrace page lists the Zero-Elevation at 3" thick up to 16" x 14" and 4" from 16" x 16", and the Anti-Thrust at 3" in every size. If you are replacing a Comfort cushion, choose the style you have now. If this is your first, your seating clinician can tell you which one you need.
Why do Permobil's documents give different thickness figures?
Permobil's product catalog prints the same thickness table for the Embrace as for the M2. The Embrace product page gives its own figures, and those are the ones we publish.
Comfort-Tek or Stretch-Air?
Comfort-Tek is the cover for fluid protection and it wipes clean. Stretch-Air is the cover for comfort and heat dissipation. Both have a non-skid bottom and loop fasteners, and both come at the same price.
What does GlideWear add?
A panel on top of the cover that reduces friction and shear on the skin and lets moisture out. The panel is not fluid resistant; the sides of the cover still are. It adds $35.
How do I choose the size?
Match the width and depth of your wheelchair seat. The Depth step only offers the depths Comfort makes at the width you picked.
Why do sizes 22" and wider cost more?
Comfort lists cushions 22" to 24" wide at a higher price. They are billed under HCPCS E2608 instead of E2607.
What is the weight limit?
It depends on the width: 200 lbs. at 14" and under, 250 lbs. at 16", 300 lbs. at 18", 350 lbs. at 20" and 400 lbs. at 22" and wider. Permobil's product page gives 400 lbs., which is the limit at 22" and wider. Permobil does not print a figure for 15", 17", 19" or 21".
Is the ATI insert included?
No. The Embrace with ATI is a separate Permobil model with a moldable insert under the cushion. This page sells the Embrace without it.
How long is the warranty?
Permobil's Comfort Company warranty policy covers the cushion for 5 years and the cover for 6 months against manufacturing defects. The 2022 operation manual linked on this page says lifetime. The current warranty policy and Permobil's product page say 5 years, and that is the term we publish.
Can I return it?
No. A cushion is a support surface, so it cannot be returned once it ships. The warranty still applies to any defect.
Is Hieline an authorized Permobil supplier?
Yes. Hieline is a Permobil Authorized Supplier, and Permobil makes Comfort Company cushions.
