The ATI is a lightweight aluminum insert under the cushion. A clinician bends its fingers to add support where the rider needs it, and can bend them again as needs change.

Deep lateral and medial contours and tapered adductors hold the thighs in line, which helps keep the pelvis stable.

Gel where the pressure is
A four-compartment QuadraGel pack sits under the pelvis and a relief cutout sits under the tailbone, both to lower peak pressure.

The Hieline Take
This is the M2 with one addition that changes who it suits. The foam, the leg contours, the gel pack and the tailbone cutout are the same as the standard M2. Underneath sits the ATI, an aluminum insert whose fingers a clinician bends to push support into the places the foam alone cannot reach, such as a pelvis that tilts to one side or knees that drift. Because it can be bent again, the cushion can follow a rider whose needs change over time. That makes it the choice when a seating clinician is part of the picture. If nobody will be adjusting the insert, the standard M2 does the same job for less.

The owner's manual for this product has its own warranty section, and that section is the complete statement of what Comfort Company covers, for how long, and what falls outside the coverage. Read it before you file a claim. If anything on this page differs from the manual, go by the manual.
A cushion is a support surface that sits against the body, so once it ships it cannot be returned. Measure the seat of your wheelchair before you order and use the size steps above. The warranty is unaffected, so a defect is still covered.

The Adjustable Technology Insert for Positioning is a moldable aluminum insert that sits under the cushion, inside the cover. Its fingers are bent to add support where the rider needs it, for pelvic support, leg alignment or a tilted pelvis, and they can be bent again as needs change.
Who adjusts the ATI?
Permobil's manual says the ATI should only be adjusted by a clinician, ATP or certified technician. A bending tool comes in the box.
Does the metal insert matter for medical imaging?
Yes. The ATI is metal and shows up on X-ray and other imaging. Permobil advises moving the rider to another surface for those procedures.
Zero-Elevation or Anti-Thrust?
Both are the M2 on a different foam base. On sizes 16" x 16" and larger, Permobil lists the Zero-Elevation at 4.25" thick at the seat and 3" under the thighs, and the Anti-Thrust at 3.75" at both. If you are replacing a Comfort cushion, choose the style you have now. If this is your first, your seating clinician can tell you which one you need.
Comfort-Tek or Stretch-Air?
Comfort-Tek is the cover for fluid protection and it wipes clean. Stretch-Air is the cover for comfort and heat dissipation. Both have a non-skid bottom and loop fasteners, and both come at the same price.
What does GlideWear add?
A panel on top of the cover that reduces friction and shear on the skin and lets moisture out. The panel is not fluid resistant; the sides of the cover still are. It adds $28.
How do I choose the size?
Match the width and depth of your wheelchair seat. The Depth step only offers the depths Comfort makes at the width you picked.
Why do sizes 22" and wider cost more?
Comfort lists cushions 22" to 24" wide at a higher price. They are billed under HCPCS E2625 instead of E2624.
What is the weight limit?
It depends on the width: 200 lbs. at 14" and under, 250 lbs. at 16", 300 lbs. at 18", 350 lbs. at 20" and 400 lbs. at 22" and wider. Permobil's product page gives 400 lbs., which is the limit at 22" and wider. Permobil does not print a figure for 15", 17", 19" or 21".
Why is there no photograph of the Anti-Thrust?
Permobil publishes photographs of the Zero-Elevation M2 only, so the gallery shows that style.
How long is the warranty?
Permobil's Comfort Company warranty policy covers the cushion for 5 years and the cover for 6 months against manufacturing defects. The 2022 cushion manual and the 2020 ATI manual linked on this page say lifetime. The current warranty policy and Permobil's product page say 5 years, and that is the term we publish.
Can I return it?
No. A cushion is a support surface, so it cannot be returned once it ships. The warranty still applies to any defect.
