The only thing you are paying the difference for is whether the height is on a motor or on a hand crank at the foot end. That makes the decision unusually simple. If somebody is providing hands-on care several times a day, they will change the height at the start and end of every session and the crank becomes the thing they complain about, so buy this one. If the bed is mostly going to sit at one height, the crank gets used twice and then never again, and the semi-electric version is the better buy. The other honest limit is the low setting. At 15.5" to the deck this is a normal homecare bed height, comfortable for transfers and not low enough to be a fall-prevention bed, so if the reason you are shopping is somebody rolling out at night, look at the Prime Care P503 instead. It arrives in pieces and weighs 169 lbs. together, so plan on two people and about an hour.
