What stands out
The P703 sits between the P503 and the P903, and the thing it adds over the cheaper P503 is capacity and width. It holds 500 lbs. against the P503's 450 lbs., and it widens from 36" to 42" where the P503 is fixed. If neither of those applies to the person using it, the P503 does the same 7" to 30" travel for several hundred dollars less and is the better buy. Where this bed earns its price is a situation that is going to change, or a person who is both a fall risk and heavier than a standard bed allows. The same warning applies here as on every low bed: the mattress works against the feature you paid for, because this frame takes 5.5" to 7" and a thick pressure-relief mattress gives back most of the height the low setting gained. Rails add 3" to each side, they are not included, and neither is the mattress.

A good fit if you
- are looking after somebody who gets out of bed at night and has fallen, or you expect them to
- are between 350 lbs. and 475 lbs., above what a standard homecare bed allows
- want the option to widen the frame later, which the width extension adds
- want one bed that goes low for the resident and high for whoever cares for them
Look elsewhere if you
- only need a standard homecare bed, where the Delta Ultra-Light costs a great deal less
- want to use a thick pressure mattress, because anything over 7" cancels out the low setting
- need more than 500 lbs. or wider than 42", where the P903 and the P2002 go further
- cannot give the bed 83" to 97" of wall
