What stands out
The question that decides this purchase is whether the child needs holding up as well as holding in. A standard car seat restrains a child in a crash and does nothing about posture on the drive there, and once a child with low trunk control outgrows the toddler seats there is a real gap. This one closes it with swing-away hip and trunk supports and an abductor that come as part of the Plus package, and with a harness that sets to six heights so the seat can follow the child from 25 lbs. to 130 lbs. rather than being replaced every two years. The open shell is deliberate: the supports do the positioning, so the seat still takes a child in a brace. Two things worth knowing before you order. Medium and large differ only in the width across the front of the seat, 17" against 19", so measure the hips rather than guessing from age. And the seat depth extender is a separate choice that takes the seat from 12" to 16", which is the one you want for a taller child whose thighs hang off the front. Car seats cannot be returned. Once a child restraint has left us we cannot confirm that it has not been in a crash or fitted wrongly, so it can never be sold again and we do not take one back. Check the size, the extender and the colour before you order, and call us first if you are not sure which size fits. If it arrives damaged or defective, tell us within 48 hours of delivery and we will get it repaired or replaced at no cost to you. The warranty above still applies.
