The pelvic loading area takes a JAY Flow fluid insert or an air insert. Fluid needs no pumping. Air can be adjusted at any time with the hand pump that comes with it.

A water resistant inner cover protects the foam. The outer cover is machine washable, has a 3DX spacer layer for airflow, and comes off by its handle.

The Hieline Take
The Fusion is JAY's adjustable skin protection cushion, and its strength is the choice under your seat bones. A JAY Flow fluid pad sits in a contoured foam base with a rear pelvic wall that holds you steady and keeps the fluid where it belongs. If you would rather adjust it yourself, an air insert with one or two valves drops into the same base. Reduced Profile takes the height from 4" to 3", and the Positioning style adds hip guides, adductors and an abductor wedge. It comes in 91 sizes from 14" to 24" wide. Fluid is checked monthly and air daily, and your clinician should pick the insert. Mind the weight limit: 300 lbs. up to 21" wide and 500 lbs. from 22".

The owner's manual for this product has its own warranty section, and that section is the complete statement of what Sunrise Medical covers, for how long, and what falls outside the coverage. Read it before you file a claim. If anything on this page differs from the manual, go by the manual.
A cushion is a support surface that sits against the body, so once it ships it cannot be returned. Measure before you order and use the size steps above. The warranty is unaffected, so a defect is still covered.

Who is the Fusion for?
Sunrise Medical classes the Fusion as an adjustable skin protection and positioning cushion, billed under HCPCS E2622 to E2625. Sunrise recommends that a clinician experienced in seating decide whether it suits you, and that you sit on any new cushion a few hours at a time at first while your skin is checked for redness.
Fluid or air?
JAY Flow fluid needs no pumping. Check it for bottoming out once a month when you clean the cushion. An air insert is set with the hand pump in the box, and its inflation should be checked every day. Sunrise leaves the choice between fluid, single valve air and dual valve air to your clinician.
Single valve or dual valve air?
A single valve insert has one chamber. A dual valve insert has two chambers, each with its own valve and inflation tube, one on each side of the cushion. It costs $3.75 more than the single valve insert.
Standard, Reduced Profile or Positioning?
Standard is 4" tall. Reduced Profile is 3" tall, which keeps your seat lower for reaching under tables and propelling with your feet. Positioning is the 4" cushion with a pair of 1" hip guides, a pair of 1" adductors and a 1" abductor wedge in pockets in the inner cover. JAY does not make a Reduced Profile Positioning cushion.
How do I choose the size?
Width is measured from outside edge to outside edge of the cushion, and should match your hips when you sit. Depth is measured from the front edge of the rear cutout to the front lower edge of the cushion, and the cushion should reach to within 1" to 2" of the back of your knees. We list the 91 standard sizes. Sizes JAY builds only to special order under JAY Your Way are not listed.
What is the weight limit?
300 lbs. on cushions 14" to 21" wide and 500 lbs. on cushions 22" to 24" wide. Those are the figures on the Fusion order form and the 2025 owner's manual. Sunrise's product page gives 330 lbs. for the narrower widths. We publish the lower figure.
Why do 22" to 24" widths cost more?
Those widths carry the 500 lbs. insert and are billed under HCPCS E2623 or E2625. On our page they cost $72.75 more, or $72 to $76.50 more on the Positioning style.
What comes in the box?
The fluid cushion comes with an Ionic+ outer cover, the inner cover, the foam base and the JAY Flow fluid insert. The air cushion comes with a stretch outer cover, the inner cover, the foam base, the air insert and a hand pump. On some air cushions the inflation tubes arrive separately and are cut to length and fitted, as the air insert supplement shows.
Is the black insert in the photographs included?
No. The black insert is JAY Fluid with Cryo Technology, which JAY sells as the Fusion with Cryo Technology, a separate model. This cushion comes with the JAY Flow fluid insert or the air insert you choose.
How do I clean it?
Turn the outer cover inside out and machine wash it in warm water, 140° F, then drip dry or tumble dry on low. Do not bleach, iron or dry clean it. Wipe the fluid insert with warm soapy water and dry it. Wipe the foam base with a damp cloth and no soap. Never submerge the fluid insert or the foam base.
How long is the warranty?
Sunrise Medical warrants the cushion for 24 months and the removable cover for 6 months against defects in materials and workmanship. Punctures, tears and burns are not covered.
Can I return it?
No. A cushion is a support surface, so it cannot be returned once it ships. The warranty still applies to any defect.
