The Joerns therapy pad is the quilted top cover a person lies on, over the air cells of a DermaFloat mattress. It is fluid proof, low in friction and shear, and treated against bacteria and fungus.
What stands out
The therapy pad is the part of a DermaFloat mattress that touches the person, so it is the part that wears and the part that gets soiled. Joerns sells extra pads for that reason, and a second pad lets one be laundered while the other is on the bed. The pad is a very smooth quilted nylon that Joerns describes as low in friction and shear, to protect the skin when a person moves or is moved. It is fluid proof, and it lets moisture vapor through, which is how the air moving under it carries dampness away. It is treated with an agent that inhibits bacteria and fungus. It can be wiped with a disinfectant, and when it is heavily soiled it can go through a washer and dryer in warm water, no hotter than 120°F, with a little detergent that has no bleach. Joerns lists the 36" x 80" pad for the DermaFloat LAL, the APL and the APM, and the 42" x 80" pad for the wide LAL. It lists both as non-zippered. The pad goes over the air cells with each corner of the mattress set into a corner of the pad.

Bed parts cannot be returned. If it arrives damaged or defective, tell us within 48 hours of delivery and we will get it repaired or replaced at no cost to you.
