What stands out
The P.R.O. Matt Plus works by itself with nothing plugged in. A control unit is what you add when the person on it needs alternating pressure, and it is also the part to replace when a unit fails. It connects to the mattress by hose and runs from a wall outlet. There are two. The CBC basic unit alternates on a 10 minute cycle, has a static mode and sets firmness on a dial with ten settings. The P.R.O. Technology unit has cycle times of 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes, an Autofirm mode for transfers, a static mode, five comfort settings and a lockout that stops the settings being changed. Both have a low pressure alarm. Choose the P.R.O. Technology unit when the care plan calls for a set cycle time or when the settings need locking. Which surface and which mode suit a person with a pressure injury is a decision for the clinician treating it.
