A 7" air and foam mattress that adjusts to each person without a pump. It carries 500 lbs., comes 36" or 42" wide, and takes an optional control unit for alternating pressure.
A 7" air and foam mattress that sets its own pressure for each person, with no pump and no power. Three zones of air cells sit under a memory foam topper, and it carries 500 lbs. An optional control unit adds alternating pressure.
Built for real life
What stands out
●
No pump and no settings
The mattress adjusts to each person by itself and refills its air cells when the person gets up, so there is nothing to plug in or set.
●
Three air zones and a foam head zone
The shoulders, the torso and the feet each rest on their own zone of air cells, under a 1" memory foam topper.
●
A firm edge
A firm foam perimeter keeps the edge stable during care and transfers.
●
Converts to alternating pressure
Either optional control unit connects by hose and turns the mattress into an alternating pressure system.
The Hieline Take
The P.R.O. Matt Plus sits between a foam mattress and a powered air system, and that is the reason to buy it. Inside the cover, a foam head zone is followed by three zones of air cells, for the shoulders, the torso and the feet, under a 1" memory foam topper. A valve lets each zone settle to its own pressure for the weight and shape of the person lying on it, and the cells refill by themselves when the person gets up. Nobody sets a dial and nothing plugs in. Joerns lists the mattress in this mode for prevention and treatment of Stage 1 and 2 pressure injuries, and for uncomplicated Stage 3 and 4 injuries in a person who can be positioned off the wound in at least two positions. If the person's needs change, either control unit listed on this page turns the same mattress into an alternating pressure system, so the mattress does not have to be replaced. The firm foam perimeter holds the edge for sitting and for transfers. This mattress is 7" deep and 36" wide, 1" deeper and 1" wider than a Joerns PrevaMatt foam mattress, so check the height of the rails above it. The surface for an existing wound is a decision for the clinician treating it.
Straight talk
Is it right for you?
A good fit if you
want pressure redistribution with nothing to plug in
weigh up to 500 lbs.
may need alternating pressure later without a new mattress
sit on the edge of the bed to get in and out
Look elsewhere if you
weigh more than 500 lbs.
have been told to use a low air loss system, where the Joerns DermaFloat LAL fits
have rails that are low above the deck, because this mattress is 7" deep
only need a foam mattress for prevention, where a Joerns PrevaMatt costs less

The owner's manual is the full warranty
The owner's manual for this product has its own warranty section, and that section is the complete statement of what Joerns Healthcare covers, for how long, and what falls outside the coverage. Read it before you file a claim. If anything on this page differs from the manual, go by the manual.
Mattresses cannot be returned. A mattress goes straight onto a bed somebody sleeps in, so once it has left us we cannot put it back into stock. If it arrives damaged or is not what you ordered, tell us within 48 hours and we will put it right at no cost to you, and the manufacturer warranty still applies.
If something goes wrong
Call us first at 1-855-HIELINE. We file the claim with Joerns Healthcare for you and get the covered part sorted out rather than handing you a phone number.
Does it need a pump or power?
No. The mattress works without a control unit and with nothing plugged in. A control unit is only needed for alternating pressure.
What do the control units add?
Either one turns the mattress into a powered alternating pressure system. The P.R.O. Technology control unit has cycle times of 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes, a static mode, an Autofirm mode for transfers, five comfort settings and a lockout. The CBC basic control unit alternates on a 10 minute cycle, has a static mode and sets firmness on a dial. Both have a low pressure alarm.
Which size do I need?
Match the deck of the bed. This mattress is 36" or 42" wide and 80" or 84" long. Choose 84" only if the bed has a length extension, and 42" only if the frame is 42" wide.
Will it fit my bed?
Measure the deck of the bed first. Joerns designs its support surfaces as mattress replacements, and it says they must not be used on a bed that leaves gaps between the mattress and the head panel, the foot panel or the rails. Check those gaps once the mattress is on.
What are the raised sidewalls?
The edges of the mattress stand above the sleep surface. Joerns says they add security for the person in the bed. They come on the 80" length with the nylon cover.
How much weight does it hold?
500 lbs. That is the rating of the mattress alone. The person, the mattress and anything else on the bed must still stay within the limit of the bed frame.
Is it for a person who already has a pressure injury?
Joerns lists the mattress without a control unit for prevention and treatment of Stage 1 and 2 pressure injuries, and for uncomplicated Stage 3 and 4 injuries when care staff can position the person off the wound in at least two positions. With a control unit it lists alternating pressure for uncomplicated Stage 3 or 4 injuries. The surface for an existing wound is a decision for the clinician treating it.
What is the warranty?
Joerns covers the mattress for 5 years, the cover for 1 year and a control unit for 1 year. The warranty is void if the manufacturer's tag is removed. Foam compressing with use is normal and is not a defect.
Can I return it?
No. Mattresses cannot be returned, because a mattress goes straight onto a bed somebody sleeps in. If it arrives damaged or is not what you ordered, tell us within 48 hours and we will put it right at no cost to you.
