Journey's entry power chair, redesigned for 2026. The frame is liquid die-cast aluminum with no welded joints, and two 250W brushless motors give it 500W in total, which is more motor than any other chair Journey sells. The 12" flat-free rear wheels are the largest in the range and roll over thresholds and paving joints that stop smaller casters. It carries 300 lbs., the 24V 10Ah battery is rated to 10 miles and charges in 4 hours or less, and one pull on the seat handle folds it flat to 11" tall. The chair weighs 39 lbs. before the battery, which makes it the heaviest of the five.

What stands out
500W of motor, the most in the range
Two 250W brushless motors, against 150W each on both Air Elites. The 24V 10Ah lithium battery is rated to 10 miles and charges in 4 hours or less, and it lifts out so it can charge away from the chair.
12" flat-free rear wheels
The largest wheels Journey fits to a power chair, and flat-free, so there is no air to check. Bigger wheels ride over thresholds, paving joints and driveway lips that stop a smaller caster dead.
A joint-free die-cast frame
The frame is liquid die-cast aluminum with no welded joints, which is where the strength for a 300 lbs. capacity comes from. One pull on the seat handle folds it to 36" x 34.75" x 11" for the back of a car.
Flip-back arms and a 17.3" seat
The armrests flip back for a side transfer, the seat is 17.3" wide on pressure-relief memory foam and sits 18.9" off the floor, and a storage pouch on the backrest comes in the box.
The Journey Air is the cheapest chair Journey makes and it is a mistake to read it as the least of them. It has the most motor in the range at 500W against 300W on both Air Elites, the largest wheels at 12" against 10.6", and it carries 300 lbs. where the Air Elite that costs $700 more stops at 240. If what you need is a chair to do errands and get around a house, this one does it and the extra money buys lightness rather than capability. The trade is exactly that lightness. At 39 lbs. before the battery it is the heaviest of the five, it does not split into pieces, and folded it is 34.75" wide, so it lies flat across a trunk instead of standing in a corner of it. If someone else has to load it every time, spend the money on the Air Elite or the Air Elite Max. Journey is also explicit that this is a personal electric vehicle and not a medical device or a wheelchair, so do not buy it expecting Medicare or Medicaid to cover it.

One pull on the seat handle folds it to 36" long, 34.75" wide and 11" tall. At 11" it lies flat, so it needs the floor of a trunk rather than a corner of one. Measure the opening of your trunk against 34.75" before you order.
Journey publishes up to 10 miles on the 24V 10Ah battery, with a charge taking 4 hours or less. Real range varies with your weight, the terrain, the temperature and the age of the battery, so plan around roughly two thirds of that figure.
