What stands out
The XO-202 is for someone who wants to stand during the day and still drive a power chair the rest of the time. It does both from one joystick, and the stand takes about 15 seconds with the knee support and belts doing the holding. Two things decide whether it is the right chair. The first is medical. Karman lists six conditions that rule it out, including lower limb contractures and a hip or knee replacement, and it asks every rider to talk to a doctor or physical therapist first, so have that conversation before you order. The second is how you plan to use the standing position. Karman's manual treats standing as a way to reach and to meet people at eye level on a flat floor, and it asks you to sit back down before you drive, so plan on standing in one place. Within those limits it gives you a 16" or 18" seat that adjusts to your body, about 25 miles of range, and a capacity of 250 lbs.

- have lower limb joint contractures, a total hip or knee replacement, unstable lower extremity joints or severe osteoporosis in the legs, which Karman lists as reasons not to use this chair
- have severe postural hypotension or a severe withdrawal reflex in the legs, which Karman also lists
- need to lift the chair into a car, because it weighs 110 lbs. before the batteries go in
