A manual standing wheelchair with no battery and no motor. You wheel it by hand and stand up with the armrest levers, gas springs taking most of your weight. It weighs 55 lbs. and carries up to 250 lbs.
You wheel it by hand and stand yourself up with the armrest levers, while gas springs carry most of your weight on the way up.
What stands out
The XO-55 is the simplest way to stand in a wheelchair. There is no battery to charge and no motor to service, and the whole chair weighs 55 lbs. The trade is that you do the standing yourself. Gas springs take most of your weight, but you release them with the armrest levers and push yourself up in stages, so it suits someone with good arm strength and balance. If you want the chair to lift you, the semi-electric XO-101 adds a battery-powered lift for about $2,215 more. Talk to your doctor or physical therapist before you order, because Karman warns that conditions such as strong contractures or osteoporosis can make standing harmful.
Straight talk
Is it right for you?
A good fit if you
- can wheel yourself and have the arm strength to push yourself up with gas spring help
- want a standing chair with nothing to charge
- want a standing chair light enough to lift into a car, at 55 lbs.
- have a doctor or physical therapist who has cleared you for supported standing
Look elsewhere if you
- weigh more than 250 lbs., which is the chair's limit
- need the chair to lift you, where the semi-electric XO-101 stands you up under battery power
- have strong contractures or osteoporosis, which Karman names as conditions that can make standing harmful
- want to stand on a slope or uneven ground, which Karman's manual rules out
The Karman XO-55 Horizon Manual Standing Wheelchair is covered by Karman Healthcare's own limited warranty. The coverage we have on record is below.
The owner's manual is the full warranty
The owner's manual for this product has its own warranty section, and that section is the complete statement of what Karman Healthcare covers, for how long, and what falls outside the coverage. Read it before you file a claim. If anything on this page differs from the manual, go by the manual.
Owner's manualThis product cannot be returned
Karman Healthcare builds each XO-55 to the choices you make on this page, and Karman's return policy does not accept configured or special-order wheelchairs, so this chair cannot be returned once the order is placed. Check the seat width, frame and seat depth before you add it to your cart. The warranty is unaffected, so a fault is still a fault and we handle it.
If something goes wrong
Call us first at 1-855-HIELINE. We file the claim with Karman Healthcare for you and get the covered part sorted out rather than handing you a phone number.
