Merits Vision Super
A mid-wheel drive power wheelchair that carries up to 450 lbs. and turns inside 21". Independent suspension front and rear, 12" foam-filled drive wheels, a seat that reclines to 135 degrees, and up to 20 miles on a charge.
Turns inside 21" and carries up to 450 lbs.
Mid-wheel drive puts the 12" drive wheels under the middle of the chair, so it turns close to its own footprint. Independent suspension front and rear, up to 5 mph, and 450 lbs. of capacity.
Built for real life
What stands out
Turns inside 21"
The drive wheels sit under the middle of the chair rather than at one end, so it pivots close to its own footprint. That is the difference between turning in a hallway and reversing out of it.
Independent suspension, front and rear
The footplate takes up to 350 lbs. without the chair tipping forward, which is what lets it ride over a threshold or a kerb cut without throwing you about. That figure does not apply to a chair built with the power seat lift.
Captain or pan seat, three widths
20", 22" and 24" wide, all at the same price, with the depth adjustable in 1" steps and a recline to 135 degrees. The 24" seat is available on the fixed seat post only.
Bluetooth programming and diagnostics
The Dynamic LiNX controller is set up over Bluetooth, so a change to speed or acceleration is a settings change rather than a service visit. A chair built with the power seat lift uses a P&G VR2 60A controller instead.
Up to 20 miles on a charge
Two 12V 55 Ah Group 22NF AGM batteries and a 5A off-board charger come with the chair at no extra charge.
It breaks down for a vehicle
The chair weighs 243 lbs. and the heaviest single piece is 121 lbs., or 151 lbs. with the power seat lift. Plan on two people or a vehicle lift.
The Vision Super is the chair to look at when the numbers on a standard power chair run out. It carries 450 lbs. on a mid-wheel drive base that still turns inside 21", which is an unusual pairing, because capacity normally arrives with a longer wheelbase and a wider turn. The trade is size and weight. It is 27.2" across and 243 lbs. on the floor, so measure your narrowest doorway and your tightest turn before you order, and plan for a vehicle lift rather than lifting it into a trunk. The power seat lift is the option worth thinking hardest about. It raises the seat 10" for reaching a shelf or lining up a transfer, and it costs you 50 lbs. of capacity and the 24" seat, because Merits Health does not offer that width with the lift. If you are near the top of the capacity range or you need the widest seat, order the fixed seat post and put the money into the seating instead.
Straight talk
Is it right for you?
A good fit if you
- need a chair that carries up to 450 lbs. and still turns inside 21"
- want a 20", 22" or 24" seat in captain or pan style, all at the same price
- want the seat to rise 10" for reaching and for transfers, which is the power seat lift
- ride over thresholds and kerb cuts often and want independent suspension front and rear
Look elsewhere if you
- need to fold a chair and lift it alone, this one weighs 243 lbs. and its heaviest piece is 121 lbs.
- want the 24" seat and the power seat lift together, because Merits Health does not offer that combination
- need more than 450 lbs. of capacity, or more than 400 lbs. with the power seat lift
- want the frame itself in a color, the color here is the pair of fenders over the drive wheels
- cross deep gravel or soft ground, ground clearance is 2.2"

Common questions
No. Merits Health builds the 10" power scissor lift with the 20" and 22" seats only. If you want the 24" seat, order the fixed seat post. If you want the lift, the widest seat available is 22".
It raises the seat 10", so you can reach a high shelf, talk to someone standing up at eye level, and line up a transfer across to a bed or a chair. It changes four things worth knowing. The seat-to-floor height becomes 24" to 34" instead of 22", the capacity comes down from 450 lbs. to 400 lbs., the chair weighs 273 lbs. instead of 243 lbs., and the controller is a P&G VR2 60A rather than the Dynamic LiNX.
Sit upright, have someone measure the widest part of your hips, then add about two inches and round up to 20", 22" or 24". The depth then adjusts in 1" steps once the chair is with you. All three widths cost the same, so size it to the rider rather than taking the wider one as a matter of course, because a seat that is too wide leaves nothing to brace against and pushes the joystick further from your hand. If a therapist has measured you, their numbers win over anything here.
The captain seat is the padded high-back seat with a headrest, and it is what most people order. The pan seat is a flat seat base you put your own cushion on, which is the one to pick if a therapist has specified a pressure cushion. Both cost the same and both come in all three widths.
The colored part is the pair of fenders over the drive wheels. The shroud, the seat and the frame are charcoal on both. Red and Blue cost the same. Merits Health's own flyer lists the second color as Shiny Black, so do not be thrown if you see that name in their literature. The chair in our photographs is the chair you get.
Yes. Two 12V 55 Ah Group 22NF AGM batteries and a 5A off-board charger come with the chair at no extra charge, on every variant.
It breaks down, and it is heavy. The chair weighs 243 lbs. and the heaviest single piece is 121 lbs., or 151 lbs. with the power seat lift. That is a two-person lift or a vehicle lift rather than something one person puts in a trunk. If you need a chair that folds and lifts alone, ask us about a travel model instead.
It is 27.2" across and 35.4" long, and the turning radius is 21". Measure your narrowest doorway and your tightest turn before you order, and send us the figures if you want us to check them with you.
It has 2.2" of ground clearance, 12" foam-filled drive wheels, independent suspension front and rear, and it climbs an 8 degree gradient. That covers pavement, packed paths, a garden path and a kerb cut. Deep gravel, soft sand and boggy ground are past what 2.2" of clearance handles.
Yes. We offer CareCredit financing with plans from 6 to 60 months. Use the payment estimate near the price to see monthly options and prequalify with a soft credit check that does not affect your score.

Select one.What does this mean?
The color on this chair is the pair of fenders over the drive wheels. The seat, the armrests, the shroud and the frame are charcoal whichever one you pick, and both cost the same.
Red is a candy apple red and Blue is a bright royal blue. The chips beside each name are sampled from the manufacturer's own photographs.
One thing worth knowing if you cross-check us. Merits Health's flyer lists the second color as Shiny Black while their price list and their order form both call it Blue, and the photographs show blue fenders. We sell it as Blue.
Select one.What does this mean?
Two decisions here, and neither one changes the price.
Width. Sit upright, have someone measure the widest part of your hips, then add about two inches and round up. Size it to the rider rather than taking the wider one as a matter of course, because a seat that is too wide leaves nothing to brace against and pushes the joystick further from your hand. The 24" seat is available on the fixed seat post only.
Type. The captain seat is the padded high-back seat with a headrest, on four posts, and it is what most people order. The pan seat is a flat base you put your own cushion on, and it is the one to pick if a therapist has specified a pressure cushion.
Depth adjusts on the chair in 1" steps once it is with you. Measure from your back to the back of your knee, take off an inch or two, and aim for a gap of three or four fingers behind the knee.
If a therapist has measured you, their numbers win over anything here. If nobody has, use the measuring guide on this page.
Select one.What does this mean?
This sets how the joystick is held, and it is separate from which side it sits on. You choose the side in the Joystick position step, at no charge.
In-line is the standard mount and the joystick stays fixed at the end of the armrest.
Swing-away lets you push the joystick clear so the chair pulls under a table, a desk or a kitchen counter. The chair takes a different bracket depending on whether it is built with the LiNX controller or the VR2 that comes with the power seat lift, and we fit the right one for the chair you build.
Retract4 swing-away does the same and also pulls back further, on a heavier bracket. Pick it if you eat and work at a table in this chair every day.
Select one.What does this mean?
This is the armrest the joystick sits on. Most people choose the side of their stronger hand. Both sides cost the same.
Select one.What does this mean?
This is the decision that changes the price, and it also changes what else you can have.
Fixed seat post is the standard chair. 450 lbs. of capacity, a seat-to-floor height of 22", and all three seat widths are available.
10" power scissor lift raises the seat 10" at the touch of a control, so you can reach a shelf, sit at eye level with someone standing, and line up a transfer instead of dropping down into it. It brings the capacity down to 400 lbs., adds 30 lbs. to the chair, and the 24" seat is not available with it.
Select one.What does this mean?
The standard footplate comes with the chair. It is one platform across the front and it flips up out of the way.
The large footplate is 13.5" X 11.5", which is worth having for a longer foot or a shoe with a raised sole.
Elevating legrests swing away to the side and raise, so a leg can be held out straight and supported. Pick these if you have swelling that is helped by raising the leg, or a knee or a hip that does not bend far. They add length to the front of a chair that is already 35.4" long, which is worth knowing if the turn into a bathroom is tight.
Included.What does this mean?
Curbside delivery is free on this chair. The carrier calls you to arrange a window and brings it to your curb, driveway or garage entrance on a lift gate truck.
Included.What does this mean?
The warranty is included and there is nothing to add. Five years on the base frame and 13 months on everything else, from the date you buy it. The full list of what is covered and what counts as a wear item is in the Warranty tab further down this page.
