The standard Motion Composites wheel lock, sold as a pair or by the side
The Newton wheel lock is a push to lock design in composite, with a spring mechanism that Motion Composites built to hold its setting.
Built for real life
What stands out
●
A spring does the holding
The spring mechanism is built to keep its setting, so the lock does not work loose with repeated use.
●
Composite body
Motion Composites lists it at 1.3 oz. (38 g) less than an aluminum wheel lock.
●
Push to lock
Push the lever forward to lock the wheel. Pull it back to roll.
●
A handle that lifts off
The 6" extension handle adds reach and leverage, and it comes off when you do not want it.
The Hieline Take
This is the wheel lock Motion Composites fits as standard, so it is the part to order when a lock on your chair is worn, bent or missing. The body is composite, and a spring mechanism does the holding. Motion Composites says that mechanism resists the loosening that makes an ordinary lock need readjusting, and that the composite body weighs 1.3 oz. (38 g) less than an aluminum one. Push the lever forward to lock the wheel and pull it back to free it. The version with the 6" handle suits a user who has trouble reaching or pushing the short lever, and the handle lifts off when it is not wanted. Order the pair or a single side, and have your chair's serial number ready so the lock matches your frame.

Is it right for you?
A good fit if you
need to replace a worn or damaged wheel lock on a Motion Composites chair
want a push to lock action

Look elsewhere if you
want a lock that also holds the chair on a hill (see the Newton Grade Aid)
need a pull to lock or a scissor lock
want to fit it to a chair that is not a Motion Composites

The owner's manual is the full warranty
The owner's manual for this product has its own warranty section, and that section is the complete statement of what Motion Composites covers, for how long, and what falls outside the coverage. Read it before you file a claim. If anything on this page differs from the manual, go by the manual.
Parts and accessories cannot be returned. Check the size, the side and the chairs it fits on this page before you order. If it arrives damaged or defective, tell us within 48 hours of delivery and we will get it repaired or replaced at no cost to you.
If something goes wrong
Call us first at 1-855-HIELINE. We file the claim with Motion Composites for you and get the covered part sorted out rather than handing you a phone number.
Can I order both sides at once?
Yes. Under Side, choose Pair, and both wheel locks go in the cart together at the price of the two. Choose Right or Left to order one side.
Is this the lock my chair came with?
The Newton push to lock wheel lock is the standard lock on the current Motion Composites order forms. Chairs can also be ordered with a pull to lock, a scissor lock or the Newton Grade Aid, so check which one is on your chair.
Do I need the 6" handle?
It is optional. It helps a user who has trouble reaching or pushing the short lever, and it lifts off.
Does it include the clamp?
Motion Composites' price list does not say. Wheel lock clamps are listed as their own part, so plan to reuse the clamp on your chair.
What should I have ready when I order?
The serial number of your Motion Composites wheelchair. Motion Composites asks for it on every parts order. Send it to us with your order number after you check out, and we match the part to the way your chair was built.
Will it fit a wheelchair from another brand?
Motion Composites publishes the fit for its own wheelchairs only, so we cannot promise it on another brand. Check the dimensions on this page against your chair before you order.
What is the warranty?
Motion Composites warrants its components for 1 year from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. Normal wear and tear is not covered.
Can I return it?
No. Parts and accessories cannot be returned, so check the size, the side and the fit before you order. If it arrives damaged or defective, tell us within 48 hours of delivery.
Is Hieline an authorized Motion Composites dealer?
Yes. Hieline is a Motion Composites dealer and orders Newton parts directly from Motion Composites, which makes them.
