A seat 18 inches deep
Every narrower chair in Nova's steel range has a 16" deep seat. This one is 18", so it carries more of the thigh and takes the pressure off the back of the knee.

Read the capacity line before you pick a width. The 22" chair is rated 350 lbs. and the 24" is rated 425 lbs., a 75 lbs. gap for $40 more, so if the rider is anywhere near 350 lbs. the 24" is the order to place. On our capacity bands the 22" is a heavy duty chair and the 24" is a bariatric one, and they are the same product page because they are the same chair with a wider seat.

Then measure the doorways. Open, the 22" chair is 31.25" across and the 24" is 32.25", so a 32" interior door is tight and a 30" one will not pass. That is the constraint that sends most buyers back to a narrower chair, and it is worth checking with a tape measure before ordering. Folded both chairs come down to 14.5" wide. At about 53 lbs. this is not a chair one person lifts into a car on their own.
