The Hieline Take
Two frames, one capacity, and the real question is width. Buyers shopping a 450 lbs. rolling walker usually start from the number and stop there, which is how people end up with a frame that will not clear the bathroom door. Between the handles you get 20.75" on the Heavy Duty and 22.5" on the Extra Wide, and overall the two frames are 26.25" and 28.5". A standard interior door opening is about 32" before you allow for trim and a door stop, so the wider frame is closer to the edge than it looks. There is a second difference nobody points out: the Heavy Duty frame keeps the full DX adjustment range with handles to 40.25", while the Extra Wide stops at 38.5" and offers one fewer seat height. So for a tall and heavy user the narrower frame is often the better one, which is the opposite of what the names suggest.

Which of the two frames do I need?
Pick by how much room you want between the handles. Heavy Duty gives 20.75" and is 26.25" wide overall; Extra Wide gives 22.5" and is 28.5" wide overall. Both carry 450 lbs. Measure your narrowest doorway before you choose the wider one.
Why is the Extra Wide frame only in Blue?
Nova build item 4264 in Blue alone. The Heavy Duty frame, item 4263, comes in Blue and Red.
Is this taller than the standard Star 8 DX?
The Heavy Duty frame matches it, at 33" to 40.25" handle height and four seat heights to 23". The Extra Wide frame is lower, at 32.5" to 38.5" with three seat heights to 22".
How does it compare with the Star Heavy Duty?
Both are rated to 450 lbs. The Star Heavy Duty is about a hundred dollars less and adjusts to a 22" seat. This one has a longer adjustment range, a built-in seat pad and a taller handle setting. If you are over about 5'10", the extra range is the reason to pay the difference.
Which accessories fit it?
Nova list a walker tray, a cup holder, a cane holder, a seat cover, designer mobility bags and a travel bag for the DX frames. None is listed on this page yet. Ask us and we will quote them with the walker.
