A 450 lbs. frame is wider between the handles, which is the part buyers notice on day one, because walking inside a frame that presses on your hips is the thing that makes people leave a walker in the hallway. The Star Heavy Duty puts 22" between the handles against 18.5" on the standard Star 8, and it keeps the push-button adjustment, so you are not paying for capacity with a fixed seat height. The catch is width overall: at 27.5" it is close to what a trimmed interior doorway leaves you, so measure the narrowest door in the house before you order. One more thing worth knowing is that Nova's newer Star HD WB is rated lower, at 400 lbs., not higher. If the capacity figure is the reason you are here, this is the model that carries it.

How do I choose between the Petite and the Standard frame?
Nova set the Petite frame for users from 4'11" to 5'5" with seat heights of 18", 19" or 20", and the Standard frame for users from 5'3" to 6'2" with seat heights of 20", 21" or 22". Measure from the floor to the back of your knee while sitting on a firm chair with your feet flat, and pick the frame whose range covers it.
Nova's own page gives a different user height for the Petite frame. Which is right?
Nova's website prose for the Star Heavy Duty Petite says 5'1" to 6'2", and the specification table on the same page of their 2026 catalog says 4'11" to 5'5". The prose figure is the Standard frame's range printed against the Petite, so we publish the table: 4'11" to 5'5". Ask us if you are near the edge of that range.
Will it fit through a standard doorway?
The Petite frame is 27.5" wide and the Standard frame is 27.5" wide, against a standard 32" interior door opening. Measure your narrowest doorway before you order, because trim and a door stop take off more than the frame drawing suggests.
Is this the same as the Star HD WB?
No. The Star HD WB, item 4259, is a different frame rated to 400 lbs. with an extra-wide padded backrest. This one is rated to 450 lbs. and carries the Lock & Lift pin. The higher capacity is on this model, not on the newer one.
Do you sell the cup holder, cane holder and covers?
Nova make a cup holder, a cane holder, a seat cover, designer mobility bags and a travel bag for this frame. They are not listed on this page yet. Ask us and we will quote them with the walker.
The frame size sets the range the seat height adjusts within. Petite covers 18" to 20" for users 4'11" to 5'5"; Standard covers 20" to 22" for users 5'3" to 6'2".
