The backrest is wider and more padded than the one on the standard Star, which is what you lean into while you rest on the seat.

Push-button height adjustment
The handles and the legs move on push buttons, so the seat height and the handle height change in seconds without tools. That is the difference between this frame and a rolling walker whose seat height is fixed when you buy it.

Locking hand brakes
The levers slow the walker as you squeeze them. Push down to park it before you sit and lift to release. Nova covers the brake parts for five years.

The Hieline Take

The backrest is the whole argument for this frame. On most rolling walkers the backrest is a strap, and a strap is fine for a moment but it is not something you lean into while you wait for your breath to come back. Nova made this one wide and padded, and then priced the frame thirty dollars under the Star 8, which is an unusual direction for a newer model. The trade is the Lock & Lift pin, which the Star 8 has and this does not, so the frame will not hold itself shut while you carry it. Whether that matters comes down to whether you lift the walker into a car alone. One thing to read carefully before you order: the Heavy Duty frame here is rated to 400 lbs., while Nova's older Star Heavy Duty is rated to 450 lbs. The newer model is not the stronger one, and the names do not tell you that.
