Nuprodx MC4000 Series Mobile Shower Commode Chair
The MC4000 is a mobile shower commode chair. You choose every part, and we check it against Sunrise's rules.
Rolls over the toilet and into the shower
A mobile shower commode chair on casters or large wheels, with heavy duty, tilt, self-propelled and travel models.
What stands out
Toilet and shower in one trip
The chair rolls over a standard or ADA-compliant toilet and straight into a roll-in shower, so the user transfers once instead of twice.
Pushed or self-propelled
Four locking casters for caregiver use, or 20" or 24" wheels with handrims for a user who wheels themselves.
Front wheels for toilet clearance
The RX models put the 20" wheels at the front, which leaves the back clear to roll over a toilet with a larger tank.
Tilt for pressure and access
The tilt models use a center-of-mass tilt worked by a side-mounted crank, with seat-mounted footrests that tilt with the chair.
Built for 400 lbs.
Every MC42xx model has a 20" wide seat frame and a heavy duty base rated to 400 lbs.
Packs for travel
The MC4000 TX weighs 24 lbs., assembles with one tool, and its two-part seat frame and cloth back fit the included carrying case.
The Hieline Insight
The MC4000 is the Nuprodx chair for a home with a roll-in shower. Unlike a stationary chair, it moves with the user: the user is seated once, at the bed, and the chair rolls over the toilet and then into the shower, so the user is never lifted onto the toilet or into the shower. The range covers four kinds of user on one frame. The MC4000 and MC4200 are pushed by a caregiver on locking casters. The tilt models add a center-of-mass tilt for pressure relief and easier hygiene. The self-propelled models give a user who wheels themselves 20" or 24" handrim wheels, and the RX versions move those wheels to the front so the chair backs over a toilet with a large tank. The TX packs into its own case for travel. Choose the 42xx version of any model if the user is over 300 lbs., and choose the MC6000 instead if the bathroom has a tub the user has to get into.
Is it right for you?
A good fit if you
- A user who needs to be wheeled to the toilet and into a roll-in shower.
- A user who can self-propel and wants to move around the bathroom independently.
- A user up to 300 lbs., or up to 400 lbs. on the MC42xx models.
- A caregiver who wants to stop lifting between the bed, the toilet and the shower.
- A user who needs tilt for pressure relief or hygiene access.
- Someone who travels and wants the same chair away from home, with the TX.
Look elsewhere if you
- A user over 400 lbs.
- A bathroom with a tub and no roll-in shower, where the user has to cross the tub wall. That is the MC6000 Series.
- Outdoor use, which Nuprodx prohibits and which voids the warranty.
- More than one occupant at a time.
- A doorway narrower than the chair. Check the widths in Specs first.
- Anyone who needs a chair they can send back. The MC4000 is made to order and is not returnable.

Common questions
Seat-to-floor height runs from 20.5" to 26.5" depending on the model, and each model adjusts within its own range. Measure from the floor to the top of your toilet bowl with the seat and lid raised and compare it with the model's range in Specs. For a toilet with a large tank, the RX models keep the wheels at the front.
The MC4000, MC4200, the two tilt models and the TX roll on four casters and are pushed by a caregiver. The MC4020, MC4220, MC4024 and MC4224 and the two RX models have large wheels with handrims for a user who wheels themselves.
The MC4000 is 22" wide and the MC4200 is 25". The self-propelled models run 27" to 27.5" with their wheels. Measure the narrowest door the chair has to pass and compare it with the widths in Specs.
The MC4000 TX is the travel model. It weighs 24 lbs., packs into the included carrying case, and takes a two-part cushion and the cloth back. It is built on the 17x17 frame and takes no headrest.
The MC4000 rolls, so the user can be moved from the bedroom to the toilet and into the shower in the same chair. The MC3000 stands on crutch tips and stays where it is set up.
The HCPCS codes on this chair are E1399 and E0240. Whether a payer covers it is between you and that payer, and a code on a form does not by itself mean coverage or payment. Sunrise publishes these codes from PDAC verification or from their reading of Medicare definitions.
Every MC4000 is assembled to the user it was ordered for, with the cushion, back, frame and wheels chosen for them, so it cannot be resold. Nuprodx also excludes custom parts and custom cushions from returns outright. Check the measurements with the fitting guide before you order.
Nuprodx gives a two-year limited warranty on every part of the chair except the seat and back cushions, which carry one year. Normal wear and tear is excluded, and custom parts and custom cushions are excluded. The warranty period starts on the day you receive the chair, and you activate it by registering the chair with Nuprodx.

Every combination is checked against Sunrise Medical's own compatibility rules as you build. An option that does not fit your other choices is greyed out with the reason printed on it, and the build cannot be added to the cart while a conflict is open.
