The Hieline Take

The Optima Carbon is the Optima for someone counting every pound on the chair. The shell is one piece of T700 carbon fiber, and NXT weighs the 16" by 16" back at 1.75 lbs., or 2.1 lbs. in the DEEP version. It keeps what makes the Optima work: a cut-out at the bottom so the pelvis can sit back, a low pivot point so changing the angle does not drag the pelvis with it, and a scapula cut-out that leaves the shoulders free. The lateral contours sit higher than on the aluminum Optima, which gives more support at the trunk. It comes in three low heights, 9", 13" and 16", for users who push hard and want their arms clear. The price follows the height, and the DEEP contour costs more. It is rated 300 lbs. at every width and stops at 20" wide, so a larger user should look at the aluminum Optima.
