The Protekt Gazelle is a steerable knee walker for anyone recovering from a broken foot, a broken ankle, foot or ankle surgery, or an amputation below the knee. You rest the injured leg on the padded knee pad and push with the good one, so weight stays off the injury while you keep moving. It steers, which matters in a hallway or a kitchen, and the adjustable hand brake gives you control on a slope. Handles adjust from 31" to 40" and the knee pad from 16" to 23", it rolls on 8" polyurethane wheels with sealed bearings, and it holds up to 350 lbs. A storage basket is included and it folds with a thumb release, no tools.

What stands out
A knee walker earns its place when crutches stop working, and the Gazelle is the version that steers, which is the difference between getting round a kitchen island and having to lift the thing. The hand brake adjusts to your reach so a driveway slope is manageable, the 8" polyurethane wheels on sealed bearings take thresholds without a jolt, and at 350 lbs. it carries more than most knee walkers in this price range.
The fit range is generous at 31" to 40" on the handles and 16" to 23" on the knee pad, though that lower knee pad figure is the one to measure yourself against before ordering, because a knee pad set too high puts your hip out of line and that is what makes people give up on a knee walker in week two.
At 22 lbs. it folds with a thumb release and no tools, the basket is included rather than an extra, and the warranty is limited lifetime. At $149 the only real question is whether your injury is below the knee, because a knee walker does nothing for a broken hip or a knee injury itself.
