What stands out
●
At the center
The child stands at the center of the frame in a surrounding chest support, which steadies the upper body so the energy goes into walking.
●
A natural walking pattern
The center bar adjusts in angle, and a slight forward lean with built-in suspension encourages a natural step.
●
Easy to get in
The U-shaped frame and the wrap around chest support open for transfers.
●
Accessories that come off
Seats, supports and prompts add or come off as the child needs them.
The Hieline Take
The Mustang holds the child at the center, so a child who cannot yet balance the trunk can put everything into stepping. Choose the frame by floor to armpit height and weight, pick the wheels for where the child walks, and the chest support by the child's chest. Then add support with your therapist: a seat for rests, hip or sacrum supports with the Mustang seat, a head support on its rod, and prompts for the arms, legs and ankles. On sizes 2 to 4, add the decelerating handbrake for outdoor use, as R82 advises.

Which size should I choose?
Choose by the child's height from the floor to the armpit and by weight: size 1 15.75" to 25.5" up to 66.1 lbs., size 2 23.5" to 33.5" up to 88.1 lbs., size 3 27.5" to 41.25" up to 132.2 lbs., size 4 34.25" to 51.25" up to 176.3 lbs. Your therapist can confirm the size.
Why must I pick a chest support?
R82's order form makes the surrounding chest support a required part of every Mustang, so each choice here is a frame with its chest support, priced together.
What comes with it?
The frame with its wheels, brakes on all four wheels, the directional stabilizer, tension adjustable wheels and the anti-reverse wheel stop, and the chest support you pick. Seats, supports, prompts and bags are add-ons.
Which add-ons depend on another?
The hip supports and the sacrum support need the Mustang seat or comfort seat. The head support needs the connecting rod and the mounting hardware, and the connecting rod needs the seat with the sacrum support or the hip supports. Each sling seat fits one chest support size.
Does it need a brake?
R82's manual says sizes 2, 3 and 4 should have the parking brake fitted, and the decelerating handbrake when used outdoors, to meet ISO 11199-3. The Mustang comes with brakes on all four wheels; the decelerating handbrake is an add-on.
Is it taxed?
No. The Mustang and its parts are sold without sales tax.
What is the warranty?
R82 gives two years against defects in workmanship and materials, and five years on breakage of the metal frame caused by weld defects. Wear parts such as tires and upholstery are not covered.
Where do the specifications come from?
From Etac's US Mustang page and the January 2026 order form. The user manual is in the Resources tab.
