Two shells on one frame
The aluminum shell keeps the price down. The carbon fiber shell uses a flat weave that lies closer together for strength, and it adds an air insert you can set by hand. Both come in the same widths and contours.

Angle set in 5° steps
The fixed hardware tilts the back up to 15° forward or rearward in 5° steps. It is smaller and lighter than standard back hardware, and it clamps to 3/4" or 1" canes.

Minimum or Mid Contour
Minimum Contour wraps 3" around your sides and leaves the most room to push. Mid Contour wraps 4" for a little more support at the sides.

The owner's manual for this product has its own warranty section, and that section is the complete statement of what ROHO covers, for how long, and what falls outside the coverage. Read it before you file a claim. If anything on this page differs from the manual, go by the manual.
A back support sits against the body, so once it ships it cannot be returned. Measure your wheelchair's back canes before you order and choose the width that matches. The warranty is unaffected, so a defect is still covered.

Both have the same widths, contours and hardware. The carbon fiber shell adds an adjustable air insert behind the foam, comes in taller 13" and 16" sizes, and costs $362 more. The aluminum shell suits most active users.
How do I choose the width?
Measure your wheelchair from the outside of one back cane to the outside of the other. Choose that width, from 14" to 18".
How do I choose the height?
The height is the length of the shell. Aluminum comes 8" or 10" tall and carbon fiber comes 10", 13" or 16" tall. A taller shell supports more of your upper back. If you are replacing an AGILITY back, choose the height you have now.
Should I choose Minimum or Mid Contour?
Minimum Contour is 3" deep and leaves the most freedom to move your arms and trunk. Mid Contour is 4" deep and holds you a little more at the sides. A seating clinician can help if you are unsure.
What is the weight capacity?
265 lbs. That is the figure in Permobil's owner's manuals for both shells and in their back support comparison matrix. The permobil.com product page lists 300 lbs. We publish the lower figure because a weight rating is not something to round up.
Will it fit my wheelchair?
It clamps to round back canes of 3/4" or 1", and the hardware for both sizes is in the box. Permobil power chairs with Corpus seating use separate Direct Mount hardware, which is not sold on this page.
What comes in the box?
The back shell with its cover and foam pad, the attachment hardware, a T-handle wrench and the owner's manual. The carbon fiber back also comes with its air insert, a hand pump and a repair kit.
Can I return it?
No. A back support sits against the body, so it cannot be returned once it ships. The warranty still covers defects.
