The Hieline Take
The CLX is the Spinergy with a carbon fiber rim, and the rim is where both the weight and the price come from. Spinergy gives a 24" wheel as 530 g, under the 568 g of the Blade LXL, and like that wheel it has flat bladed spokes and a small black hub. It costs about half as much again as the Blade LXL for that difference, so it is a wheel for someone who lifts the chair or the wheels often enough to feel 40 g a side. The limits are plain on the list: two sizes, one hub, 1/2" bearings. Handrims bolt to rivnuts set in the carbon rim. Spinergy does not publish the bearing spacing of this hub, so measure the hub you have now and ask us before you order, because wheels cannot be returned. The wheels arrive bare, so handrims, tires, tubes and axles are separate.

Is the price for one wheel or for a pair?
For a pair. One unit in the cart is two wheels.
What comes in the box?
Two wheels with their hubs and bearings. Handrims, tires, tubes and axles are not included.
Which hub does the CLX have?
One hub with 1/2" bearings, in black. Spinergy does not publish its bearing spacing and its hub chart does not list the CLX. Measure the hub on the wheel you have now, from the outside of one bearing to the outside of the other, and ask us before you order.
Which size do I need?
The size on your chair now. Read the number on the tire sidewall: 540 is a 24" wheel and 559 is a 25" wheel.
Which axle length do I need?
Axles are not included, and you can add a pair under "Add axles" on this page. The length depends on your chair. Spinergy's axle chart gives these lengths for the CLX. 4.00": Aria, Colours, GTM, Hands On Concepts, Ki Mobility, Kuschall, Lasher, Melrose, Panthera, Reckless, TiLite, Vesco, newer P4X chairs and the RGK Octane Sub 4 and Tiga. 4.25": Kinesis, Levo, Lifestand, Miki, Mogo, Motion Composites, Quickie, Roma and older P4X chairs. 4.50": Box, Brand New Wheelchair, Invacare and Top End. 4.75": the other RGK chairs. A Ki chair with height adjustable armrests takes 0.25" more, except the Ethos, which takes 3.75". A Quickie more than 10 years old takes 0.25" less. If your chair is not on the chart, the length depends on two things: the length of the axle receiver in your camber tube, and the distance from the outside of one hub bearing to the outside of the other. Measure both and you have the axle length.
Which tires fit?
A wheelchair tire in the matching size. Read the size on the sidewall of the tire you have now and order the same one.
Why fiber spokes and not steel?
Spinergy rates its PBO fiber at three times the strength of steel and half the weight, and the fiber absorbs 25% more shock and vibration than a steel spoke.
How do handrims mount on a carbon rim?
On rivnuts. They are threaded inserts set in the rim, and the handrim bolts to them. Handrims are not included.
What maintenance do the wheels need?
Keep them clean. Now and then take the wheels off the chair, pull the axle and wipe the bearings, the hub and the axle with a dry rag. The bearings are sealed and need no grease. Check that the spokes are tight, the rim is undamaged and the tires hold their pressure.
What is the warranty?
Spinergy warrants the wheels for 1 year from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship, for the original owner. Keep your receipt. Bearing wear, crash damage and sports such as basketball, quad rugby and tennis are not covered.
Can I return them?
No. Wheels cannot be returned, so check the size, the hub and the spoke color before you order. If they arrive damaged or defective, tell us within 48 hours of delivery.
