The Hieline Take
The Wire Wheel is the Spinergy for someone replacing worn factory wheels who does not need fiber spokes. It has Spinergy's aluminum rim and its own aluminum hub, laced with 30 straight-pull steel spokes of 14 gauge, and the bare pair costs under half of what a pair of SPOX Everyday wheels does. The list also sells it with handrims fitted, or with handrims and gray tires, so it can arrive closer to ready than the bare wheels. Steel spokes pass more of the road to your hands than fiber does, and at 776 g a wheel it is heavier than the 687 g LX. The list gives one hub with 1/2" bearings and does not publish its bearing spacing, so measure the hub you have now and ask us before you order, because wheels cannot be returned. A pair under $500 ships for $45.

Is the price for one wheel or for a pair?
For a pair. One unit in the cart is two wheels.
What comes in the box?
Two wheels with their hubs and bearings. With the "With handrims" build the handrims are on them, and with the "With handrims and gray tires" build so are the tires. Axles are not included.
Do the gray tires come with tubes?
The price list reads "pushrim and standard grey tire" and does not say whether the tires are solid or take tubes. Ask us before you order if that matters to you.
Which hub does it have?
One black aluminum hub with 1/2" bearings. Spinergy does not publish its bearing spacing and its hub chart does not list the Wire Wheel. Measure the hub on the wheel you have now, from the outside of one bearing to the outside of the other, and ask us before you order.
Which size do I need?
The size on your chair now. Read the number on the tire sidewall: 451 is a 20" wheel, 501 is a 22" wheel, 540 is a 24" wheel, 559 is a 25" wheel and 590 is a 26" wheel.
Which axle length do I need?
Axles are not included, and you can add a pair under "Add axles" on this page. The length depends on two things: the length of the axle receiver in your camber tube, and the distance from the outside of one hub bearing to the outside of the other. Measure both and you have the axle length.
Which tires fit?
A wheelchair tire in the matching size. Read the size on the sidewall of the tire you have now and order the same one.
How does it compare with the fiber spoke wheels?
It costs less and it is heavier, 776 g a wheel against 687 g for the LX. Steel spokes also pass on more vibration than PBO fiber spokes do.
What does shipping cost?
A pair with handrims and gray tires is over $500 and ships free. The other two builds are under $500, and an order under $500 ships for $45.
What maintenance do the wheels need?
Keep them clean. Now and then take the wheels off the chair, pull the axle and wipe the bearings, the hub and the axle with a dry rag. The bearings are sealed and need no grease. Check that the spokes are tight, the rim is undamaged and the tires hold their pressure.
What is the warranty?
Spinergy warrants the wheels for 1 year from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship, for the original owner. Keep your receipt. Bearing wear, crash damage and sports such as basketball, quad rugby and tennis are not covered.
Can I return them?
No. Wheels cannot be returned, so check the size, the hub and the spoke color before you order. If they arrive damaged or defective, tell us within 48 hours of delivery.
Is Hieline an authorized Spinergy dealer?
Yes. Hieline is a Spinergy dealer and orders these wheels directly from Spinergy, which makes them.
