Overview
Twelve PBO fiber spokes on an everyday wheel
The Lite Extreme LX is Spinergy's everyday wheel with 12 radial PBO fiber spokes. It is sold as a pair in four sizes, three hubs and nine spoke colors.
Built for real life
What stands out
●
12 PBO fiber spokes
Each wheel has 12 radial spokes of PBO fiber, 4mm thick. Spinergy rates the fiber at three times the strength of steel at half the weight.
●
Less vibration
Fiber spokes absorb shock that steel spokes pass on to your hands and shoulders. Spinergy puts the difference at 25%.
●
Room to reach through
Twelve spokes leave open space to reach through the wheel to what is under your chair.
●
Three hubs
A standard hub, the wider X2 hub, and an X2 hub with 12mm bearings, so the wheel sits at the right distance from your frame.
●
Nine spoke colors
Black, blue, red, yellow, white, orange, green, pink or purple. Black spokes come with a silver hub or a black one.
●
Takes any wheelchair tire
The rim takes 1" and 1-3/8" wheelchair tires in the matching size.
The Hieline Take
The LX is Spinergy's twelve spoke everyday wheel, and the spokes are the reason to buy it. Each one is a bundle of PBO fiber, which Spinergy rates at three times the strength of steel at half the weight, and it gives a little where a steel spoke passes the bump straight to your shoulders. With only twelve spokes you can also reach through the wheel to the frame or to a bag under the seat. What it asks of you comes at the order stage. The wheels arrive bare, so handrims, tires, tubes and axles are separate, and you have to choose the hub that matches your chair, standard or X2. With the wrong hub the wheel sits too close to the frame or too far from it, and wheels cannot be returned. Check the list of makes in the specifications, or measure the hub you have now, before you order.

Look elsewhere if you
- play basketball, tennis or rugby in the chair

Is the price for one wheel or for a pair?
For a pair. One unit in the cart is two wheels.
What comes in the box?
Two wheels with their hubs and bearings. Handrims, tires, tubes and axles are not included.
Which hub fits my wheelchair?
It depends on the make of your chair. The standard hub fits most everyday chairs from TiLite, Motion Composites, Ki Mobility, Invacare, Top End and Pride. The X2 hub fits most from Quickie, RGK, Colours, Kuschall, PDG, Per4Max and Box. The X2 hub with 12mm bearings fits most from Otto Bock, Meyra and Lifestand. The full list by make is in the specifications. If your chair is not on it, measure the hub on the wheel you have now, from the outside of one bearing to the outside of the other: 1.8" is the standard hub and 2.3" is the X2.
What is the difference between the standard hub and the X2 hub?
The distance between the two bearings. The standard hub measures 1.8" and sets the wheel closer to the chair. The X2 hub measures 2.3" and sets the wheel a little further out, which some frames need so the spokes clear the chair.
Which size do I need?
The size on your chair now. Read the number on the tire sidewall: 501 is a 22" wheel, 540 is 24", 559 is 25" and 590 is 26".
Which axle length do I need?
Axles are not included, and you can add a pair under "Add axles" on this page. The length depends on your chair. Spinergy's axle chart gives these lengths for the LX. 3.75": Aria, Hands On Concepts, Ki Mobility, Melrose, Panthera, Reckless, TiLite and Vesco. 4.00": Levo, Miki, Mogo, Motion Composites and Roma. 4.25": Colours, GTM, Invacare, Top End, Kuschall, Lasher, newer P4X chairs and the RGK Octane Sub 4 and Tiga. 4.50": Kinesis, Lifestand, Quickie and older P4X chairs. 4.75": Box, Brand New Wheelchair and the other RGK chairs. A Ki chair with height adjustable armrests takes 0.25" more, except the Ethos, which takes 3.75". A Quickie more than 10 years old takes 0.25" less. The chart lists Box, GTM, Kuschall, Lifestand, P4X, Quickie and RGK on the X2 hub. If your chair is not on the chart, the length depends on two things: the length of the axle receiver in your camber tube, and the distance from the outside of one hub bearing to the outside of the other. Measure both and you have the axle length.
Which tires fit?
Any wheelchair tire in the matching size, 1" or 1-3/8" wide. A 26" x 1.95" mountain bike tire fits the 25" (559) wheel.
Why fiber spokes and not steel?
Spinergy rates its PBO fiber at three times the strength of steel and half the weight, and the fiber absorbs 25% more shock and vibration than a steel spoke.
Why do the photographs of black spokes show a silver hub?
Spinergy photographs the LX with black spokes on its silver hub only. The black hub you get with "Black with black hub" is the hub shown in the photographs of the colored spokes.
What maintenance do the wheels need?
Keep them clean. Now and then take the wheels off the chair, pull the axle and wipe the bearings, the hub and the axle with a dry rag. The bearings are sealed and need no grease. Check that the spokes are tight, the rim is undamaged and the tires hold their pressure.
What is the warranty?
Spinergy warrants the wheels for 1 year from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship, for the original owner. Keep your receipt. Bearing wear, crash damage and sports such as basketball, quad rugby and tennis are not covered.
Can I return them?
No. Wheels cannot be returned, so check the size, the hub and the spoke color before you order. If they arrive damaged or defective, tell us within 48 hours of delivery.
Is Hieline an authorized Spinergy dealer?
Yes. Hieline is a Spinergy dealer and orders these wheels directly from Spinergy, which makes them.
