The Hieline Take
The SLX 24 is the wheel Spinergy builds for contact sport: 24 radial spokes in its thick 4mm size, where the SPOX Sport uses 3mm. It is the one sport wheel on the list with a choice of 1/2" or 12mm bearings, so it covers sport chairs with a 12mm axle. If your chair has a 5/8" axle, the same wheel with larger bearings is the SLX R10, and the cross-laced version is the XSLX. One thing to know before you buy a wheel for sport: Spinergy's written warranty names basketball, quad rugby, tennis and similar sports as misuse and does not cover damage from them, and it makes no exception for its sport wheels. Read that against what you plan to do with the wheels. They arrive bare, so handrims, tires, tubes and axles are separate. Measure the axle on your chair before you order, because wheels cannot be returned.

Wheels cannot be returned. Check the size, the hub and the spoke color on this page before you order. If they arrive damaged or defective, tell us within 48 hours of delivery and we will get them repaired or replaced at no cost to you.

Is the price for one wheel or for a pair?
For a pair. One unit in the cart is two wheels.
What comes in the box?
Two wheels with their hubs and bearings. Handrims, tires, tubes and axles are not included.
Which hub does it have, and will it fit my sport chair?
Every Spinergy sport hub measures 2.3" from the outside of one bearing to the outside of the other. What differs is the axle. This wheel takes the axle size shown on this page, and Spinergy's list of sport chair makes for that axle is in the specifications. Measure the axle on your chair before you order, because wheels cannot be returned.
Which size do I need?
The size on your chair now. Read the number on the tire sidewall: 540 is a 24" wheel, 559 is a 25" wheel, 590 is a 26" wheel and 622 is a 700c wheel.
Which axle length do I need?
Axles are not included, and you can add a pair under "Add axles" on this page. The length depends on your chair. Spinergy's axle chart gives these lengths for the SLX. 4.25": Aria, Colours, GTM, Hands On Concepts, Ki Mobility, Kuschall, Melrose, Panthera, Reckless, TiLite, Vesco, P4X and the RGK Octane Sub 4 and Tiga. 4.50": Levo, Lifestand, Miki, Mogo, Motion Composites, Quickie and Roma. 4.75": Box, Brand New Wheelchair, Invacare, Top End and Lasher. 5.00": Kinesis. For the other RGK chairs the chart gives 4.75" or 5.12", so ask us before you order. Spinergy's price list has no 1/2" axle in 5.00", so that length is not offered on this page. A Ki chair with height adjustable armrests takes 0.25" more, except the Ethos, which takes 3.75". A Quickie more than 10 years old takes 0.25" less. If your chair is not on the chart, the length depends on two things: the length of the axle receiver in your camber tube, and the distance from the outside of one hub bearing to the outside of the other. Measure both and you have the axle length.
Which tires fit?
A wheelchair tire in the matching size. Read the size on the sidewall of the tire you have now and order the same one.
Does the warranty cover use in sports?
Spinergy's written warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year. It names basketball, quad rugby, tennis and similar sports as misuse and does not cover damage from them, and it makes no exception for a sport wheel. Crash and impact damage is not covered on any wheel.
Why fiber spokes and not steel?
Spinergy rates its PBO fiber at three times the strength of steel and half the weight, and the fiber absorbs 25% more shock and vibration than a steel spoke.
My chair has a 5/8" axle. Does this wheel fit?
No. The SLX 24 takes a 1/2" or a 12mm axle. The SLX R10 is the same wheel with bearings for a 5/8" axle.
Why do the photographs of black spokes show a silver hub?
Spinergy photographs the SLX 24 with black spokes on its silver hub only. The black hub you get with "Black with black hub" is the hub shown in the photographs of the colored spokes.
What maintenance do the wheels need?
Keep them clean. Now and then take the wheels off the chair, pull the axle and wipe the bearings, the hub and the axle with a dry rag. The bearings are sealed and need no grease. Check that the spokes are tight, the rim is undamaged and the tires hold their pressure.
What is the warranty?
Spinergy warrants the wheels for 1 year from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship, for the original owner. Keep your receipt. Bearing wear, crash damage and damage from sports are not covered.
Can I return them?
No. Wheels cannot be returned, so check the size, the hub and the spoke color before you order. If they arrive damaged or defective, tell us within 48 hours of delivery.
