The SLX 507 exists for one reason, which is the tire. A 507mm rim takes the tires made for youth mountain bikes and BMX bikes, so you can run a wide knobby tire for gravel, grass and dirt, or a large volume road tire to soften rough pavement or to suit a power assist. Spinergy builds it with its thick 4mm spokes and the SLX sport hub. The size needs thought before you order. Spinergy describes 507mm as slightly larger than a 22" (501) wheel, and a wide tire adds height and width on top of that, so check the clearance on your frame and your wheel locks. The list carries it with black spokes only, with a silver or a black hub, and with or without rivnuts in the rim. The wheels arrive bare, and wheels cannot be returned.

Is the price for one wheel or for a pair?

What comes in the box?
Two wheels with their hubs and bearings. Handrims, tires, tubes and axles are not included.
What are rivnuts, and do I need them?
Rivnuts are threaded inserts set in the rim, and Spinergy uses them to bolt a handrim to a rim. Order the rim with rivnuts if you will fit handrims to these wheels.
Will a 507mm wheel fit my chair?
Spinergy describes 507mm as slightly larger than a 22" (501) wheel, and the tires made for it are wider and taller than a wheelchair tire. Check the room between your frame, your side guards and your wheel locks before you order.
Which tires fit?
Tires marked 507 on the sidewall. That is the size of youth mountain bike and BMX tires, and Spinergy names a mountain bike style tire or a large volume road tire for this wheel.
Which hub does it have?
Spinergy's SLX sport hub. It measures 2.3" from the outside of one bearing to the outside of the other and takes a 1/2" axle.
Which axle length do I need?
Axles are not included, and you can add a pair under "Add axles" on this page. The length depends on your chair. Spinergy's axle chart gives these lengths for the SLX, which has the same hub as this wheel. 4.25": Aria, Colours, GTM, Hands On Concepts, Ki Mobility, Kuschall, Melrose, Panthera, Reckless, TiLite, Vesco, P4X and the RGK Octane Sub 4 and Tiga. 4.50": Levo, Lifestand, Miki, Mogo, Motion Composites, Quickie and Roma. 4.75": Box, Brand New Wheelchair, Invacare, Top End and Lasher. 5.00": Kinesis. For the other RGK chairs the chart gives 4.75" or 5.12", so ask us before you order. Spinergy's price list has no 1/2" axle in 5.00", so that length is not offered on this page. A Ki chair with height adjustable armrests takes 0.25" more, except the Ethos, which takes 3.75". A Quickie more than 10 years old takes 0.25" less. If your chair is not on the chart, the length depends on two things: the length of the axle receiver in your camber tube, and the distance from the outside of one hub bearing to the outside of the other. Measure both and you have the axle length.
Spinergy shows this wheel with colored spokes. Can I order a color?
The dealer price list carries the SLX 507 with black spokes only, so black is what we list.
Why fiber spokes and not steel?
Spinergy rates its PBO fiber at three times the strength of steel and half the weight, and the fiber absorbs 25% more shock and vibration than a steel spoke.
What maintenance do the wheels need?
Keep them clean. Now and then take the wheels off the chair, pull the axle and wipe the bearings, the hub and the axle with a dry rag. The bearings are sealed and need no grease. Check that the spokes are tight, the rim is undamaged and the tires hold their pressure.
What is the warranty?
Spinergy warrants the wheels for 1 year from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship, for the original owner. Keep your receipt. Bearing wear, crash damage and sports such as basketball, quad rugby and tennis are not covered.
