The Spinergy SLX R10 is a sport wheelchair wheel with 24 PBO fiber spokes of 4mm and bearings for a 5/8" axle. It is sold as a pair of bare wheels in 24", 25", 26" and 700c, with a choice of spoke color.
The SLX R10 is the 24 spoke SLX with larger bearings for a 5/8" axle, on a red hub. It is sold as a pair in 24", 25", 26" and 700c and nine spoke colors.
What stands out
The SLX R10 is the SLX 24 built around a thicker axle. Its hub carries larger bearings for a 5/8" axle in place of the usual 1/2", and Spinergy makes it for basketball and quad rugby, where a 1/2" axle can bend in a hit. The wheel is otherwise the SLX 24, with 24 radial spokes in the thick 4mm size, and the hub is red on every color. It fits only a chair with 5/8" axle receivers, so check that first. One thing to know before you buy a wheel for sport: Spinergy's written warranty names basketball, quad rugby, tennis and similar sports as misuse and does not cover damage from them, and it makes no exception for its sport wheels. Read that against what you plan to do with the wheels. They arrive bare, so handrims, tires, tubes and axles are separate, and wheels cannot be returned.
Straight talk
Is it right for you?
A good fit if you
- have a sport chair with 5/8" axle receivers
- have bent a 1/2" axle
- want 24 thick spokes
Look elsewhere if you
- have a 1/2" or 12mm axle
- want a hub color other than red
- expect the warranty to cover damage from sport
