Overview
Eighteen PBO fiber spokes on Spinergy's original wheel
The SPOX Everyday is the wheel Spinergy built its name on, with 18 PBO fiber spokes. It is sold as a pair in five sizes, three hubs and five spoke colors.
Built for real life
What stands out
●
18 PBO fiber spokes
Each wheel has 18 radial spokes of PBO fiber, 3mm thick. Spinergy rates the fiber at three times the strength of steel at half the weight.
●
Less vibration
Fiber spokes absorb shock that steel spokes pass on to your hands and shoulders. Spinergy puts the difference at 25%.
●
Five sizes
20", 22", 24", 25" and 26", so it covers smaller chairs as well as adult ones.
●
Three hubs
A standard hub, the wider X2 hub, and an X2 hub with 12mm bearings, so the wheel sits at the right distance from your frame.
●
Five spoke colors
Black, blue, red, yellow or white. Black spokes come with a silver hub or a black one.
●
Takes any wheelchair tire
The rim takes 1" and 1-3/8" wheelchair tires in the matching size.
The Hieline Take
The SPOX Everyday is the wheel Spinergy built its name on, and it costs less than the LX. Each wheel has 18 round PBO fiber spokes, 3mm thick, where the LX has 12 at 4mm, so it looks closer to a conventional wheel and leaves less room to reach through. You get the same fiber, which gives a little where a steel spoke passes the bump to your shoulders, and the same three hubs. It also comes in a 20" size, which the LX does not. The color choice is shorter: black, blue, red, yellow or white. Like every Spinergy wheel it arrives bare, so handrims, tires, tubes and axles are separate, and the hub has to match your chair because wheels cannot be returned. Check the list of makes in the specifications, or measure the hub you have now, before you order.
Straight talk
Is it right for you?
A good fit if you
- want fiber spokes at a lower price than the LX
- need a 20" wheel
- want a wheel that looks close to a conventional spoked wheel
Look elsewhere if you
- want orange, green, pink or purple spokes
- want wheels that arrive with handrims and tires fitted
- have not checked which hub your chair takes

Is the price for one wheel or for a pair?
For a pair. One unit in the cart is two wheels.
What comes in the box?
Two wheels with their hubs and bearings. Handrims, tires, tubes and axles are not included.
Which hub fits my wheelchair?
It depends on the make of your chair. The standard hub fits most everyday chairs from TiLite, Motion Composites, Ki Mobility, Invacare, Top End and Pride. The X2 hub fits most from Quickie, RGK, Colours, Kuschall, PDG, Per4Max and Box. The X2 hub with 12mm bearings fits most from Otto Bock, Meyra and Lifestand. The full list by make is in the specifications. If your chair is not on it, measure the hub on the wheel you have now, from the outside of one bearing to the outside of the other: 1.8" is the standard hub and 2.3" is the X2.
What is the difference between the standard hub and the X2 hub?
The distance between the two bearings. The standard hub measures 1.8" and sets the wheel closer to the chair. The X2 hub measures 2.3" and sets the wheel a little further out, which some frames need so the spokes clear the chair.
Which size do I need?
The size on your chair now. Read the number on the tire sidewall: 451 is a 20" wheel, 501 is a 22" wheel, 540 is a 24" wheel, 559 is a 25" wheel and 590 is a 26" wheel.
Which axle length do I need?
Axles are not included, and you can add a pair under "Add axles" on this page. The length depends on your chair. Spinergy's axle chart gives these lengths for the LX, which has the same hubs as this wheel. 3.75": Aria, Hands On Concepts, Ki Mobility, Melrose, Panthera, Reckless, TiLite and Vesco. 4.00": Levo, Miki, Mogo, Motion Composites and Roma. 4.25": Colours, GTM, Invacare, Top End, Kuschall, Lasher, newer P4X chairs and the RGK Octane Sub 4 and Tiga. 4.50": Kinesis, Lifestand, Quickie and older P4X chairs. 4.75": Box, Brand New Wheelchair and the other RGK chairs. A Ki chair with height adjustable armrests takes 0.25" more, except the Ethos, which takes 3.75". A Quickie more than 10 years old takes 0.25" less. The chart lists Box, GTM, Kuschall, Lifestand, P4X, Quickie and RGK on the X2 hub. If your chair is not on the chart, the length depends on two things: the length of the axle receiver in your camber tube, and the distance from the outside of one hub bearing to the outside of the other. Measure both and you have the axle length.
Which tires fit?
Any wheelchair tire in the matching size, 1" or 1-3/8" wide. A 26" x 1.95" mountain bike tire fits the 25" (559) wheel.
Why fiber spokes and not steel?
Spinergy rates its PBO fiber at three times the strength of steel and half the weight, and the fiber absorbs 25% more shock and vibration than a steel spoke.
Why do the photographs of black spokes show a silver hub?
Spinergy photographs the SPOX Everyday with black spokes on its silver hub only. The black hub you get with "Black with black hub" is the hub shown in the photographs of the colored spokes.
What maintenance do the wheels need?
Keep them clean. Now and then take the wheels off the chair, pull the axle and wipe the bearings, the hub and the axle with a dry rag. The bearings are sealed and need no grease. Check that the spokes are tight, the rim is undamaged and the tires hold their pressure.
What is the warranty?
Spinergy warrants the wheels for 1 year from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship, for the original owner. Keep your receipt. Bearing wear, crash damage and sports such as basketball, quad rugby and tennis are not covered.
Can I return them?
No. Wheels cannot be returned, so check the size, the hub and the spoke color before you order. If they arrive damaged or defective, tell us within 48 hours of delivery.
Is Hieline an authorized Spinergy dealer?
Yes. Hieline is a Spinergy dealer and orders these wheels directly from Spinergy, which makes them.
