The rail itself is short. 17", against a fixed 30" on the 30" Safety Bed Rail and 38.5" at full extension on the Wonder Pivot. So this is a padded handle to get in and out with, not a length of rail that will stop a roll out of bed. The handle is fixed and does not lift off.
