The number that decides whether a bath lift is worth owning is how low the seat goes, because a lift that stops six inches up leaves you sitting in a draught rather than in a bath, and this one goes to 2.6" from the tub floor. The 50 degree recline is the second half of that: it lets you lie back in the water and then sits you upright before the lift raises you, which is when most people need the help.
