Flexabed's low profile mattress for the Premier and the Hi-Low SL. A 4" core of high density foam under a quilted top, for a bed that sits closer to the floor.
The low profile mattress is the thinnest one Flexabed makes. A 4" core of high density polyurethane foam sits under the same quilted top as its other mattresses, so the sleeping surface is closer to the floor.
What stands out
The low profile mattress exists for one reason, which is height. Its core is 4" of high density polyurethane foam, where the innerspring, memory foam and latex mattresses are 8-3/4" thick at the tape edge, so the sleeping surface sits closer to the floor. On a Hi-Low SL fully lowered on leg pads, Flexabed puts the top of this mattress 16-1/2" from the floor, against 20-5/8" with a quilted top mattress of full height. That matters to a person who moves across from a wheelchair, or who finds a tall bed hard to get into. What you give up is depth. There are no springs and no memory foam layer, and the core is one piece of foam rated 24 ILD at 1.8 lbs. per cubic foot. It has the same quilted top, knit cover and non-skid underside as the rest of the range, and it costs the same as the innerspring mattress. Flexabed makes it for the Premier and the Hi-Low SL and does not offer it on the Value-Flex. It is made to order and cannot be returned, so settle the size and the length before you buy.
Straight talk
Is it right for you?
A good fit if you
- need the sleeping surface closer to the floor
- move across from a wheelchair or sit on the edge of the bed to stand
- own a Flexabed Premier or Hi-Low SL
- want a quilted top over plain foam
Look elsewhere if you
- want the depth of a mattress of full height
- want springs, memory foam or latex under you
- own a Value-Flex, which Flexabed makes with the innerspring mattress only
- are buying the bed as well, because the bed page prices the two together for less
- may want to send it back, because a mattress made to order cannot be returned
