The Hoyer Bariatric Hammock Sling is a hammock sling for bariatric transfers, with a head support. The fabric is a three layer woven spacer that breathes, drains and stretches two ways to follow the body, which is why Joerns points it at a person who stays in the sling for a long time. It is fitted while the person is lying down. A pommel strap between the legs stops slipping, and hip straps add support. It has webbing loops for the Hoyer bariatric loop spreader bar, which the Hoyer HPL700 carries as standard. The safe working load is 850 lbs., and the lift's own capacity still applies. Joerns gives no weight guide for bariatric sizes, because body shape varies too much, so each person is assessed for size. Joerns asks that a competent person assesses the person, the sling and the transfer before any sling is used.
