The Hieline Take
The Hoyer Full Body Hammock Sling is a one piece hammock sling. The person is rolled onto it while lying down, and it carries the body from the shoulders to above the knees. Joerns says it suits 95 percent of people and gives a comfortable, supportive lift without side suspenders. The leg sections are padded. It has webbing loops for the Hoyer 6-point spreader bar, which the Hoyer Advance and the Hoyer Presence carry as standard. The colored loops on each strap set how upright or reclined the person sits. The safe working load is 500 lbs., and the lift's own capacity still applies. The binding on the edge is color coded by size, and Joerns gives a weight range for each size as a starting point. Joerns asks that a competent person assesses the person, the sling and the transfer before any sling is used.

It fits Hoyer lifts with the 6-point spreader bar. The Hoyer Advance and the Hoyer Presence ship with that bar. The Hoyer HPL700 ships with a bariatric loop spreader bar and takes this sling with its optional standard 6-point spreader bar. Joerns' sling guide also names the Stature, the HPL450 and the HPL500. Joerns approves Hoyer slings for Hoyer lifts only.
Who is it for?
Someone who is lifted from bed or from the floor and cannot sit forward for a divided leg sling.
How do I pick the size?
Joerns gives a recommended weight for each size: Small 75 to 150 lbs., Medium 125 to 200 lbs., Large 175 to 350 lbs. Joerns says the weight range is only a guideline, because height and build change the fit, so have a clinician or therapist confirm the size.
How is it washed?
Machine wash warm, at 185°F at most, without bleach. Cool tumble dry or air dry, and do not dry clean it. Joerns says to check the sling before every use and to discard one that is bleached, torn, cut or frayed.
Does a Hoyer lift come with one?
No. Hoyer lifts ship without a sling, so the sling is ordered with the lift or on its own.
What is the warranty?
Joerns warrants it for 12 months from purchase. Joerns replaces a product that proves defective in materials or workmanship. Normal wear and tear is not covered.
Can I return it?
