The Hoyer HML400 is a manual hydraulic sling lift for a person who cannot stand. You raise it with a hand pump and lower it with a release knob. It carries 400 lbs., and the mast lifts out of the base for storage.
A manual sling lift that raises a person with a hand pump. The pump handle swings to either side, the U-shaped base opens around a chair, and the mast lifts out for storage.
What stands out
The HML400 is the plain hydraulic Hoyer lift, and it suits a home where a caregiver is able to pump and the budget matters. There is no battery and no motor. You close the release knob and pump the handle to raise the boom, and you open the knob slowly to lower it. The pump handle rotates, so you work it from whichever side of the lift you are standing on. The boom travels from 28" to 77", and the U-shaped base opens from 24" to 39.5" with a lever to go around a wheelchair or a commode. The mast lifts out of the base, so the lift stores in two pieces or rides in a car. It carries 400 lbs. and weighs 84 lbs. The cost of the low price is effort. Every lift is pumped by hand. If pumping is hard for the caregiver, a battery lift such as the Hoyer Advance does the lifting from a hand control. The HML400 ships with its 6-point cradle and without a sling.
