The Hoyer Journey is an electric stand aid for a person who can bear some weight but needs help to stand. It carries 340 lbs., adjusts to the person's height, and folds without tools for storage or travel.
An electric stand aid that raises a seated person to standing for a transfer or a trip to the toilet, then folds without tools and stands on its own.
What stands out
The Journey raises a seated person to standing with a motor and a standing sling, and it is built small. The person sits with their feet on the foot tray and their shins on the knee pad, the sling goes around their back, and the hand control raises the boom to bring them up. What sets it apart is fit. The cradle that holds the sling slides to three positions with an indicator, and the knee pad slides up and down, so the same stand aid suits a short person and a tall one. Take the foot tray off and it becomes a walking aid for someone relearning to walk under close supervision. It folds without tools, stands upright on its own when folded, and fits a car trunk of suitable size. The battery pack lifts off and charges on its own stand in about 4 hours. It is only for a person who can sit and bear some of their own weight. A person who cannot bear weight needs a sling lift such as the Hoyer Advance. The Journey carries 340 lbs., and the Hoyer Elevate carries 440 lbs. with powered legs. It ships without a sling.
